10 Things I Love ~

Cori G! at Gingerbread Crumbs & Co. via Pam at Grey Like Snuffie is passing along a meme about 10 things you love starting with an assigned letter. She assigned me either the letter L or R to list 10 things I love. I chose to list 10 L’s I love.

If you’d like to play let me know and I’ll assign you a letter or two to choose from.

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

I’ve been Tagged!

Susanne from Living to Tell the Story has tagged me for this meme which originated with Seedlings in Stone this time around.

1. Write about 5 specific ways blogging has affected you, either positively or negatively.
2. link back to the person who tagged you
3. link back to this parent post (I’m not so much interested in generating links, but rather in tracking the meme so I can perhaps do a summary post later on that looks at patterns and interesting discoveries.)
4. tag a few friends or five, or none at all
5. post these rules— or just have fun breaking them

5 specific ways blogging has affected me, either positively or negatively. I will start with the positive…

1. Blogging has opened up the world of technology to me. I have learned so much about computers and Digital cameras that I stubbornly refused to learn before. I never knew what you could do with a right click. I didn’t know how to copy and paste. I was a wimp at the keyboard. Sheesh, I was so afraid of this world my brother had to force me to start a blog.

2. I look at the world so differently with a blogger’s eye. I’ve always been very visual and now I see more than ever before and now I can easily document what I see and I really enjoy that. I was adventurous before but not nearly as adventurous as I am now.

3. I have met people around the world through my blogging that I consider friends. I have even had the privilege of meeting some of these friends face to face. I plan to meet more in the future. It’s a privilege to pray for and be prayed for by people around the world who I never knew existed and who never knew I existed. The “body” is huge and I love being connected to it more.

4. Blogging challenges me to communicate a thought with as few words as I can. Sometimes posts are rambling posts but I like to challenge myself to express a thought as simply as possible.

5. Blogging has taken time away from other types of communication that I was regular with. Sending letters or cards of encouragement, etc. When I pour a thought or encouraging word from myself or another author into a post I think my job is done when in reality there are people that are in my day to day world that also need other forms of encouragement from me.

True to form I’m not tagging anyone but leaving it up to you whether you are inspired to consider this question. If you choose to play let me know because I’d like to read your answers.

Oh and about the illustration at the top of this post. I’ve loved Racey Helps since the first time I saw books and cards in England in the early 70’s. I just threw that in to brighten up the post :0)

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I posted on my blog from 2007-2015 hostage and replaced them with big black and grey boxes with threats. So discouraging…as I’m slowly trying to clean up thousands of posts!

The Big 5 Tour ~ Meme

My friend Bridget suggested this meme on her blog and look what she created for me. I copied it and posted it here.

She says ~

If you could travel with any famous person to any location who and where would you choose.

Here are the exciting details:

  • pick 5! 5 celebrities with 5 corresponding destinations (equaling 5 separate trips).
  • While you travel with them they are no longer and never were famous–They’re the same as we all know them, just not known. No paparazzi, no special accommodations, no star status. (this is more to see what personalities you’d want to travel with than getting to experience living large for a few months)
  • The relationship is platonic, just friends.
  • They can be celebrities who have passed away.
  • Please stick to real people and real locations and not characters and fantasy locations. Don’t worry: I’m going to be asking that question (books or movies) next 🙂
  • You CAN be creative….Mary Magdalene in Israel? Lance Armstrong in France? New York with Andrew Lloyd Webber? Hawaii with Obama? the possibilities are endless!
  • put your answers in the comments!
  • or post them on your blog and let me know so I can come have a look!

Ellen
Jane Austen in England

Sean Connery in ScotlandPierce Brosnan in IrelandSophia Loren in ItalyBobby Flay in NYC

So get creative, pack your bags and have some fun…

Thanks Bridget!

Tagged for My Unimportance!

Cori G. from Gingerbread Crumbs and Co. has tagged me for a meme. I’m suppose to post 6 unimportant things about me. Now which 6 to choose.

Here are the 6 I settled on.

#1. I drink coffee every morning.
#2. Orange is not my favorite flower color.
#3. Hats aren’t flattering on me.
#4. I am not a vegetarian.
#5. I enjoy strolling through cemeteries.
#6. I do not bake pies.

During my last stroll through the Santa Barbara Cemetery look what I saw. Ellen B. is buried there, thankfully not this Ellen B.

Thanks for the tag Cori G.!

I’m not going to tag anyone but if you want to play let me know so I can come and visit.

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage. They have blacked out all those photos on my blog posts. OH BOTHER! I’m slowly cleaning up my posts.

Go ahead and find your inner touchy feely and do this meme. After you do let me know so I can come by and get all emotional with you…

Oh and the photo at the top of this post is ellen b in the restroom at the Queen Mary Tea Room. Yep I take pictures everywhere…

Meme ~ Defined…

Indefinite pronoun
Même as an indefinite pronoun means the same.
C’est le même. It’s the same.
Elles sont toujours les mêmes. They’re always the same.

So a Meme is something that is the same and goes around bloggy world.

Before the noun, même means same:
C’est la même chose ! It’s the same thing!
J’ai lu le même livre. I read the same book.
Il aime les mêmes programmes. He likes the same programs

So for all y’all out there who were wondering what the heck meme means I hope this clarifies. I have the lovely Katie B. to thank for setting me on the right track for this word. And here’s a treat for reading this…

Have You Ever Meme ~

I saw this over at Susanne’s and decided to play along…

Susanne’s was a meme for a busy day. Mine is a meme for a laid up day. I’m still in bed with back pain and so between memorizing, blogging and reading, I’m calling on God so I don’t lose heart.  2 Corinthians 4:16-17 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”

A view from my jail room while I’m recovering…

Lousy photo yes, but it was fun taking a picture. I’m suffering a bit from picture taking withdrawal.

So now to the temporary things of this earth that I’ve seen and done…

Have you ever:

-Gone on a blind date no
-Skipped school yes
-Watched someone die yes
-Been to Canada yes to British Columbia, and to Ontario from Detroit.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and they have blacked them all out. I’m slowly working at restoring my posts without their help. Such a tiresome bother!

A Book Meme

I was tagged by Mog to do a book meme.

The deal is that you pick a book you are reading and turn to page 123. Then copy out the 6th, 7th and 8th sentence down from the top.

I’m reading Before Green Gables (the prequel to Anne of Green Gables) by Budge Wilson. Some Anne fans are wary of this book but let me just say that it has been a delight to read. I have 100 more pages to go before I’m done and I don’t want to put it down. Budge Wilson has done a fantastic job in capturing our Anne and weaving some very heart-warming relationships around Anne before we see her in Avonlea.

Here are the sentences from page 123;

“I’m going to the Egg Man,” Anne shouted back. And then, unnecessarily, “For eggs.” She held up a cloth bag – now sodden from the snow.

I so want to add the whole paragraph but I’m going to stick to the rules.

If anyone wants to play along, let me know..
