It’s time for the last Wednesday Hodgepodge of July. Thank you, Joyce!
1. What was the last thing you celebrated?

The 4th of July and the 250th Birthday of the U.S.A.

2. July 29th is International Day of the Tiger. Besides the wild animal itself, when you hear the word tiger what’s the first person-place-thing-whatever that comes to mind?
I think of Tigger the Tiger. If there was a Tiger in my life I wouldn’t want to expose the fact here because they might just come after me! (Seriously) I’m happy to avoid tigers.

Our niece Hope and Grand Nephew Jackson with Tigger at Disneyland in 2009! Hope is headed to college in August and Jack is done with college and getting married in October.
3. The expression ‘eye of the tiger’ describes someone with intense focus, determination, and the drive to succeed. What area of your life are you currently bringing that kind of energy to?
These are the lazy days of summer and I’m not bringing that kind of energy to anything. I am considering a special quiet project that is going to take all my quiet energy, digging and sorting and putting it together. When it materializes, I’ll share.
4. What was the last meal you cooked?
I’ve been following Drew Cooks on Facebook lately and he shared a recipe that I made and my company really enjoyed. If you haven’t seen this guy cook a meal yet you might be entertained…or not. Go ahead…click on the link. 🙂
5. Describe your July using exactly five words.
World Cup Soccer Ole Ole!

Soccer camp started up on the hottest week of the summer and next week soccer season will start. My evenings will be full. Time to put the folding chairs in the back of our vehicle!

6. Insert your own random thought here.
More lazy day achievements at our country bungalow.

I completed this jigsaw puzzle on Monday. Another thrift store puzzle that had all the pieces! Woohoo!
Vacation Bible School starts on this coming Monday. I’ll be selling the t-shirts and other accessories each evening. We are hoping for cooler days and for more progress on our area fires so our air is not smoky. Praying for that end.
Happy Birthday to my youngest brother and sister, twins! We love you dearly.

…I’m just too old to run around in a hot field kicking a ball.
Great pics of your grandkids on the pitch! And of your twin siblings- I hope they have great birthdays. I hope VBS goes well at your church! Our church isn’t doing it this year due to a construction project :(.
I feel like most VBS programs were early here. It’s nice to have one later in the summer and I hope it goes well. Last year my two oldest grands were on the same baseball team which was great for scheduling. This year they are not so we’ll probably be helping some with getting everyone where they need to be. It’s fun to be near enough to see matches and games. Happy birthday to your sibs!
Love the picture of your twin siblings! There is a reason they call it the dog days of summer lol… not much energy in the heat and smoke beyond usual chores. Amazing how fast time flies when I looked at the old Tigger photo! Have fun at VBS and soccer, always praying for rain and clearing of the smoke!
Praying that your VBS goes well. Our smoke cleared out, thank goodness. It was nice to get a break from it. If the wind shifts we will be back in the haze.
I like your brothers apron.
Your home is beautifully decorated for the 4th of July. Yay! I said Tigger too! What cute photos! I hope the kids have fun with the soccer!
I’m not on Facebook but I do watch Drew Cooks on You-tube, and he’s got some good recipes PLUS he’s very entertaining.
I love your 4th of July decorations!
We watched a lot of the World Cup matches as well. To have not been much of a soccer fan since our granddaughter hasn’t played since college, we were amazed at quickly we got into the spirit of the game. I looked up Drew Cooks and although his recipes may be more detailed than I normally do, he is entertaining. Thanks for the nod.
I enjoyed reading your answers! Your grandchildren are growing so fast!! I need to check out Drew Cooks.
Love the puzzle. That looks like a fun one to do.
Hello Ellen! I enjoyed reading your answers. Yes, I am also in agreement with you…. this is summer I tend to not have a lot of determination right now. 🙂 It is lazy or slower paced days for me.
That puzzle looks challenging! Enjoy the upcoming soccer season with your two favorite ones!
Hi Ellen, I enjoyed reading your post. Time goes by way to fast. I like how you mentioned what the kids were doing now after showing those Tiger pictures. I looked through my phone and found a picture of me with Tigger. We enjoyed the Soccer games and was glad to see Spain win. Have fun watching your grands play.
Delightful photos and hodge podge Ellen and belated Happy Birthdays to your brother and sister. Always a pleasure to see you and your family enjoying yourselves. I was born in the Year of the Tiger and have been told – by hubby – for the last 50 years that I can get incredibly focused on things and find it hard to alter course when I am in this mode. I have to admit this is true 😉
Tigger the Tiger came to my mind too. Andvthe huge tiger stuffy that my oldest son brought home from Thailand for his little sister when he returned from a military posting there.
Happy Birthday to the twins!
That recipe looks really good!
I love your 4th of July and patriotic decorations! Wish I’d been able to do more at my place this year but I was lucky to have anything unpacked. LOL
I haven’t heard of Drew Cooks but he looks entertaining, so I’m going to check it out.
Hope you’re having a great week!
Late to the commenting party…again…ugh. Enjoyed your answers. That first photo cracks me up. The look on her face. I’ll have to check out that FB page.
