Four Somethings in October

I’m joining a new to me monthly blog party today called Share 4 Somethings 2024. Coming in late since there are only 3 of these left in 2024. Thank you to Jenn at Overflowing with Thankfulness for the party.

Today we’re talking about the things we loved or disliked, accomplished, improved upon/needs improvement, and noticed this month.

Since I’m coming in late, I’ll keep it simple.

Loved or Disliked…

October was a great month watching our kids (3 adult children and their spouses) and grands (two grands, a girl and a boy) soaking in the October moments on the westside of our state. I love that they make an effort to keep their relationships growing and enjoy time spent with each other.

I also loved seeing our grands with the pumpkins they picked at our local Pumpkin farm and corn maze. (photo at top of post)

I disliked the fact that our property taxes practically doubled this year. They are due on October 31st…scary. 🙂

Improved Upon/Needs Improvement…

I could use some improvement on my food plans for hubby and me.

Noticed this Month…

We live in a small country town in Northeast Washington State. We were on Main Street this week and I noticed this sign outside Redbird Boutique (a clothing store). The sign made me chuckle. Hunting season is real in these parts!

Wow! Here we are in the last weekend of October! Enjoy it while you can!

Thanks again, Jenn, for the linky party!

  1. Looks like they had a fun time and the pumpkin picture is so darn cute. That meal looks delicious. We seldom plan anything. It’s like the night before I say what do you want to eat tomorrow and I take some meat out of the freezer. I never plan further ahead than that. I love that sign. I’ve had Mark join me when I go grocery shopping and he does not enjoy it in any way at all. Have a nice weekend.

  2. Our eating has taken a turn for the unusual now that it’s just the two of us…Your food looks really good. Love the photos of the family fun during this sweet season. That sign is funny! Hunting is popular in rural Ohio but we are more in suburbia, being somewhat nestled in between two cities. Have a great weekend!

  3. Love that photo of your granddaughter’s hair swaying as she swings.

I’m not sure I want to know how much our property taxes are going up this year…

    Have a good weekend, Ellen.

  4. Oh I feel for you; we had one year where our property taxes doubled too and that felt like such a punch to the gut. That sign is so cute! LOL.

  5. What a cute pumpkin photo! Deciding what to eat can be enjoyable or frustrating. I find deciding harder than doing the actual cooking. We are blessed that we have so many choices!

  6. It’s so wonderful that your family prioritizes time spent together, Ellen! It’s such a blessing! Your grands are precious, and pumpkins are so much fun this time of year! Your Greek meal looked delicious! Property taxes, ugh. Yes. Awful, how these things are going! Hoping that the rest of your October is full of special moments 🙂

  7. That sign made me chuckle too!! I think your meal looks pretty good … I seriously need to start eating better. It’s so hard to make good meals for 1!

  8. It is a blessing that your adult children prioritize their relationships with one another! Yikes to the property tax increase. Meal planning is an area that I have fallen down on. I need to get back on course.
