Give Me Freedom to Roam Hodgepodge

It’s Wednesday so here are the Hodgepodge questions for this week. Thank you to Jo From This Side of the Pond!

1. What do you wish you’d done more of last year?

More meditating on God’s Word, the Bible. Remembering what the Lord has done for us.

Less of?

Less watching of mindless TV.

2. What’s the tallest building you’ve ever been in?

The Sears Tower was the tallest. The photo at the top of this post is of some of the Chicago skyline.
The Sears Tower is now the Willis Tower. Other tall buildings I’ve been in: Empire State Building, The Space Needle, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Statue of Liberty.
~
Do you have a fear of heights
~
No but I do have a fear of edges. Edges of cliffs, open edges on winding mountain roads.  A nice handrail or some sort of barrier between me and the edge is always comforting to me.
~
3. Do you have a word for the year? Elaborate if you’d like to elaborate.
~
No word for the year as of yet and don’t know if I’ll choose one. I was considering Perseverance.

4. January 11 is National Milk Day…are you a milk drinker? What kind? Your favorite recipe that calls for milk (cereal doesn’t count)?

I like milk but milk doesn’t like me. I can enjoy it in moderation. Give me whole or 2% please. Our family favorite, Swedish Pancakes, calls for milk.

5. What excites you most about the future?

That the Lord will return to gather us up to be with Him.

Seeing our grandchildren grow.

What do you miss about the past?

Freedom to travel without masks and restrictions and having all the resources of travel available like open restaurants and attractions.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Speaking of watching our grandchildren grow. I will cherish all the moments like this one.

Thank you for visiting, fellow hodgpodgers and friends, you make me smile.

  1. I had a very similar answer for whether or not I’m afraid of heights- it isn’t so much the height as the risk of falling. Precious picture with your grandchildren! I love reading books to little ones 🙂

  2. I wonder if we will ever get back to feeling completely free (and everything completely open) in regards to travel. I do hope so! Don’t take a trip with my hubs. He loves the edge of high places. We call him the mountain goat.

    • Jo, We watched a mountain goat couple walk out on the edges during our time in the Badlands. So scary for me but they were so agile out there! Yikes.

  3. I don’t like heights either! I want to spend more time in the Word of God this year too… so much to learn! I look forward to the return of Jesus too! So thankful for our Hope in Him! Sweet sweet picture of you reading to the grandbabies! Precious moments!

  4. I didn’t even know we had a national milk day but I do like milk!!
I just realized it isn’t the height that I’m afraid of, it’s the edges like you said!!

  5. What a lovely post! I especially love the second photo. I’ve also been to the top of the Sears Tower. Many years ago. I’ve never thought about having one word for a year. I think I cannot limit myself.

    • Sharon, since we are still calling it the Sears Tower that is telling about the span of time we visited. Thank your for stopping and commenting. 🙂

  6. I think a lot of us feel the way you feel for question #1. I lived in Chicago for 38 years of my life but never went up in the Sears Tower for some reason. Me too, I don’t want to be at the edge of a cliff. Yes, I am getting very frustrated with our freedoms!!! Grandchildren are just the best. I love the photo you shared. Enjoy!!

  7. I’m not fond of heights, either. It is so much fun to watch the grandchildren grow and to spend time reading and having fun with them. Love that photo of you and your two.

  8. The best of times: reading with the grands! I don’t like heights at. all. Certainly not the edges! ~ shudder ~ Like you, I am looking forward to our Lord’s return!

  9. Fear of edges!! Yes!! All these years I wasn’t sure what it was, I’m not afraid of heights but going to the edge freaks me out. Looking over the side of anything high makes me so nervous, I get butterflies in my stomach… but I never put a name to it. Thank you! 🙂
