Gambel’s Quail?
This looks like the Black Capped Chickadee.
This one I couldn’t find in my bird book with the full black head.
These photos were all taken on Monday February 8th. We had a fine dusting of snow overnight.
Well our HVAC guy came yesterday and it looks like they’ll need to order a new part to correct the problem so we’ll be on emergency heat for a while longer. We want it fixed right so we are happy to wait instead of having a patch up job.
…sometimes the squirrels let the birds come to my feeders.
Tom, At this property we haven’t seen squirrels much at all.
It is fun to watch the birds. We have a blue jay that chases the squirrels away from the feeders and nest.
You got some good photos of these pretty backyard visitors! I hope someone can identify the mystery bird!
Soooo sweet!
I think the quail are beautiful!!
The bird with the black cape is a Dark eyed Junco – we have dozens at a time at our feeder. they like to eat the seed that’s on the ground. Love your quail – beautiful!
Nice to see your bird visitors. Hope your heat pump gets fixed soon.
I just love seeing the quail! We have them in our area, but seldom see them at the feeders, and I think that is mostly because we have so many wild turkeys and my chickens too. I hope your heat issues get resolved quickly, especially with the cold weather upon us! Stay warm and cozy đŸ™‚
Ellen – those quail are adorable – I have always liked those little feathers on their heads ….
I assume the little round guys are quail? They are so cute!
Yes, Anneliese, they are quail. So cute.
