Five on Friday

We’ve been working on making more distinct borders on a couple of our planters. This planter is on the backside of our deck and between our home and garage/shop.

This planter is in the front of our home and is ready for the weed cloth and bark that you see in the planter above. It was so much easier to mow with this nice border today.

We are just home from our last minute getaway to Yellowstone National Park. We stayed one night in the Old Faithful Inn. The structure is the largest log hotel in the world; possibly even the largest log building in the world. The lobby was a comfortable setting to people watch and enjoy a drink.

Now at home we are getting ready for our annual fourth of July celebration with a few of my red white and blue decorations going up.

Our Canadian neighbors are enjoying Canada Day and on Monday we will celebrate with family, friends, food and fireworks for the fourth! Five words starting with the letter F!

I am thankful to God for the results of our hard work, for  our last minute getaway, for the safety we had on the road, for the beauty of God’s creation that we were afforded on our trip, for our country where can worship our God in safety (so far).

Happy Canada Day to our dear neighbors to the North!

  1. Happy Fourth! That log building is incredible isn’t it! You wouldn’t think that logs alone could be used to make something that huge would you! Your flower borders look really good, lots of work, but well worth it! Thank you for joining in with Five On Friday. I hope you have a fun weekend! xx

  2. Your garden looks very pretty with it’s trim work, Ellen. Old Faithful Inn is magnificent! We did not stay there on our trip, but we did go in to see it and we also we had lunch there. Happy Forth of July!

  3. What a beautiful lodge! I’ve been to similar ones at Glacier National Park, and Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, NE – but none that large.

  4. We finally made it to Yellowstone a couple of years ago and loved it. Didn’t stay at the lodge so I really enjoyed your photos. Have a happy and safe 4th of July.

  5. We’ve always camped on our trips to Yellowstone. The lodge is amazing, I would love to stay there sometime. Happy 4th!

  6. Your garden border is very nice…and I love that you have a blue Hydrangea blooming! Years ago when my husband and I visited Yellowstone we were camping. The Old Faithful Inn is magnificent, and I’m glad you enjoyed staying there. Being out and about in our wonderful country is amazing, isn’t it. I am grateful the Lord allows me to live here. May you and yours have a safe and happy July 4th celebration. xx

  7. Looks like a great trip! Would love to experience that log restaurant! We’re due to work on some landscaping in our yard, too, not that our fence is complete.

  8. That garden border is lovely! You are motivating me to start planning on rounding mine out. It’s all too squared off and doesn’t look as nice. That trip looks like lots of fun and I love to people watch too! Happy 4th of July

  9. Hi Ellen! Sorry I’m so late visiting, it was such a busy holiday weekend (as I’m sure you know!). I still wanted to come by and say hello.

I stayed at the Old Faithful Inn many years ago and absolutely loved it!! I had an amazing meal there and I think it was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! And the hot springs and geysers, as well as wildlife, were so beautiful.

Hope you had a wonderful July 4th weekend and blessings on the rest of your week ahead. xoxo
