Banana Coffee Cake

Click on over to Mennonite Girls Can Cook to get my recipe for this Banana Coffee Cake! My family says it’s moist and delicious. It’s also a great recipe for using up that one ripe banana that is left from the bunch!

Here’s what losing fifteen pounds looks like on my face. The photo on the left is from April 18th and the photo on the right is from June 3rd. I’ve kind of hit a wall at this point but am happy with what I have been able to de-fluff before the wedding coming up in just seventeen days!

Today Dear and I are working outside again. He has a small section of the siding to finish painting and then we are going to clean up the planter on that side of the house and level out an area to store our trash cans out of sight. I have lots of before and afters to share in the future!

It’s cooling off a little today in the Seattle area. How goes it in your neck of the woods?

  1. Good for you, Ellen! It’s not easy to lose those pounds! The banana cake makes my mouth water and I’ll go check out the recipe. Thanks for providing it! Our weather is cooled down to the 80’s today and near perfect. We have been staining our new deck. The deck is going to be so nice when it’s ready to use. We’ll enjoy it especially in the morning for coffee and in the evening while slowing down. Don’t work too hard!

  2. You’re looking great…so hard to maintain for 17 days…I could gain 17 pounds in 17 days from nerves alone. Good thing you are doing those workouts in the garden on all counts!

  3. Laughing here at Vee’s comment. Be careful to ward off those 17 pounds in the next 17 days. It’s all looking good over there (cake, the plate & you)!

    • Arti, I’m on my own 1200 calorie a day regiment. I’ve also been going to exercise class 3x a week at the senior center in town and trying to walk on other days. It really is mostly cutting back on calories that does the trick for me.

  4. Ellen – you look fabulous!!! Like you – it’s cutting back on the food that does the trick for me too (I can exercise all I want and it doesn’t seem to help me “defluff” as you call it). Heading over to MGCC to check out that delicious looking cake!
