I’ve been watching the leaves fall on our side of the fence this week. The huge Maple tree that drops those leaves is on the other side of the fence but this tree feels it’s just fine to drop all it’s leaves on our side of the fence. Judging by the leaves that remain on the tree we will still have two major leaf raking exercises. This time of year I need to remember the blessings of shade that this tree affords us in the summer. I also need all the exercise I can get so I’ll count the raking of the leaves a blessing, too.
Do you have to rake leaves this time of year?
I’m linking up with Tex*Wis*Girl for Good Fences #34
that’s the right attitude to have! 🙂
We don’t do much raking anymore. From the 17 trees we planted 14 years ago and many LARGE trees around the neighborhood we have LOTS of leaves but thankfully we now have a lawn service help us out with our mowing and fall leaves. Our next door neighbor has an ugly pin oak and those things slowly loose their leaves from November to March. We have to get out sometimes in the winter and rake off a portion of our front yard next to her tree or those leaves will mat down with snow and kill the grass. Its amazing the time we put into home ownership in this country. Overseas their buildings age and lots are often so small. This drive for the perfect look in this country can drive one bonkers. lol
So true, that shade trees are a blessing, in spite of the raking chore. 🙂 Beautiful photos, especially like the second one!
Such a shame you get so many of the maple’s leaves! Beautiful in their falling, though, and nice fence!
The leaves are still a lovely colour in the grass, Hard work gathering then all up
Not a lot of leaves to rake in our yard. The carpet of leaves looks pretty, even if it is trespassing a little.
pretty fall scenes and fence. Oh yes I’ve raked leaves this year.
As beautiful as those leaves are, one would HAVE to count them as blessings.
We had a LOT of leaves to rake at our old house but none here.
xo
We don’t have to rake leaves out front but we do in our driveway. – I love how you captured that one lone leaf falling in the 2nd shot.
How pretty to capture a leaf in mid air! Maple leaves are my favourite (of course). We mostly have evergreens surrounding our farm buildings which means not so much raking, however, those pine needles clog eaves troughs and are messy all year round. Exercise is always a good thing!
They make for great photos…those maple leafs. I love the last one…where you captured that one leaf in its downward journey!
Beautiful leaves! Lovely yard full of them!
(Confession: We don’t rake.)
The leaves are gorgeous! Nice fences too!
We’ve had a lot of wind and a lot of leaves came down this past week! I’ve wondered, if there were no fences, if all the leaves would just blow right off our yard!
You got a wonderful perspective of those leaves on your lawn, and the falling leaf photo is a precious moment, Ellen. All our leaves are now under a few inches of snow –no more raking until we have a thaw!
You have a lovely backyard. Yes, we have 5 huge maples that have shed their leaves and these have been mulched and bagged. It’s a big job but the JD mower with hubby at the wheel does a great job of it. 🙂 I help with the raking and bagging part. Have fun getting your exercise. Pam
You find the best memes to join, Ellen! BTW, I enjoyed your post about St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo. I have yet to make it on to the property…I keep hoping for an opportunity.
Love the beauty of the leaves, but I ‘m glad I don’t have to rake them.
