We are aware of some things that September holds for us and we aren’t naive enough to think we know all that it holds.
My mom’s life is still in the balance.
Here are some things we are looking forward to…
A milestone birthday for Dear on September 9th.
This photo is from 2006 in Conwy, Wales taken by our friend Dave.
My parents 70th wedding anniversary.
(Technically they have already been married for 70 years since their wedding in Iran was in mid summer but the official date on their U.S. papers says September 13th)
This photo of my parents was taken in 2006 in Dallas during our celebration of Leonard and Mandy’s marriage.
A milestone trip to England with our son Josh and DIL Laura from September 12th thru the 23rd.
We know we’ll be seeing so many wonderful sites. I’m so excited to be going again with a digital camera this time. It will be Josh and Laura’s first time there. EXCITED!
Some of the planned events are:
Going to Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester for the Manchester United ~ Crystal Palace soccer game on Saturday the 14th.
A night in the Cotswolds.
This was taken in the Cotswolds in 2004. Can you see why I’m excited to go back with a digital camera?
Lacock Village and the Abbey on our way to stay in Wells. If any of you watched Cranford and Return to Cranford they were filmed in this village along with other scenes from other well known favorites. The Abbey was used to film some scenes in a couple of the Harry Potter movies.
A night in Wells so we can explore the cathedral and walk around the castle moat.
3 nights in Southwest Cornwall doing whatever we decide to do which will include hikes to the beach and St. Michael’s Mount.
Ending our trip with a weekend in London where we have rented an apartment home near Portabello Road. We will try to get in as many landmark London sites as possible and hope to be able to also see a play or musical.
Other things to look forward to in September after our trip are:
Day trip adventures with our daughter Katie while she is living with us for this new season which may or may not include tea. I’m also going to take advantage of Katie’s technical skills to help me hook up our new slide and photo scanner and for her to help me learn to use it!
Starting up our weekly Small group meetings again.
Our Fall Women’s Bible Study at church.
What are you looking forward to in this month of September?
Well. You have a jam-packed month ahead. I’d like to go back to France with my newer camera just to reshoot some of the thing I saw before. So I fully understand your enthusiasm for going to England with your digital camera.
Congratulations to your parents on 70 years of marriage!
Around here we are expecting company for a few days, some birthday celebrations, the start up of small group and women’s ministry, and enjoying the changing season.
Oh, what fun you will have in the month of September! All the fun milestones. Will continue to pray for your Mom.
seeing the sun…
Oh, there is all kinds of excitement ahead. I’m reading Susan Branch’s A Fine Romance and she discusses Lacock Village. So you are about to enjoy A Fine Romance of your own…what fun!
You are in for a lot of treats this month. Enjoy every moment. We have birthdays to celebrate (Elmer’s, Dad’s, Maggie’s…two of my sisters as well), a class reunion, some booksignings with MGCC (we’ll miss you!)…and corn harvest before the month is over.
What a great month of joys to look forward to…favor on all to go well. We get to travel to see our youngest in Colorado for a week. It should be the right time to see the Aspens in all their golden Fall color and watch the Elk come down out of the mountains. Otherwise I may just hug her a lot while we play. The world looks so different with digital cameras. Our oldest daughter just told me about some cell phone that will come out with a 46 mega pixal camera on it. CRAZY……she wasn’t sure regular cameras were any where near that. The English countryside can be so pretty. I’ve never been there in the Fall, it will be fun to peek in through your lens.
Busy, busy…lots to celebrate and enjoy! Look forward to tagging along with you to England! Would love to go one day!
You will certainly hit the ground running when you get to England – what a trip! It will be wonderful to visit all those places with your son and daughter-in-law too! Over here? A trip to Ottawa for work and to see my parents later this month.
Your September sounds absolutely full Ellen! I can’t wait to see the digital pictures of your milestone trip to England. The Cotswolds are on our bucket list for sure! Congrats to your parents on their 70th anniversary – an amazing milestone! I think of your mom often!
Sept. here is a busy one with beginning of Fall term at the college, canning, corn and soy bean harvesting, a wee weekend get-away to Northern Ontario, Wellesley Apple Butter and Cheese Festival, local Fall Fairs, etc. Sept. is one of the best months of the year!
Some nice milestones to look forward to there. Seventy years … I hope it can still be a special day for your mom and dad. You have a lot on the go and probably a lot of “If God Wills.. “going on in your thoughts …May He give grace for each day.
Oh what fun Ellen B! I’ll be looking for those lovely pics from the Cotswold, that you post. It’s always been my hearts desire to visit there…lucky lucky you! It sounds like you’re going to have a great time!
Me, plans for September? I haven’t even thought about it yet…must get thinking…
Xoxo and prayers for your mom and dad and safe travels!
Cori g.
Oh, I can’t wait to see pictures from that trip! I keep you rmom in my prayers. Happy Birthday to Mr. Happy Wanderer, who was born on the same date as me. How wonderful that your parents have been married 70 years! laurie
Your trip sounds just fantastic. Any chance of tucking me into your luggage??
I love how you have summarized your trip…Many milestones…and they are also so important. I feel somewhat like you, almost an event coordinator as we plan for upcoming milestones.
It looks like I may have my daughter at home prior to her marriage in the states. We may be sharing some special moments once again.
Lots on your plate this month! Seventy years is just amazing, what a legacy your parents have given you!
