Flag Day

Flag Day is a holiday celebrated on June 14 in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress replaced the British symbols of the Grand Union flag with a new design featuring 13 white stars on a field of blue and 13 red and white stripes—one for each state

The American flag, also nicknamed as “Old Glory” or “star-spangled banner”, has changed designs over the centuries. It consists of 13 equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton bearing 50 small, white, five-pointed stars. Each of the 50 stars represents one of the 50 states in the United States and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies that became the first states in the Union.

The rest of the photos show some new blooms around our country bungalow.

I brought in some of the white peonies to enjoy their scent and some of the first of the pink peonies, too.

Have a nice Father’s Day weekend everyone.

All My Times Are in Thy Hands

~
Even though the day be laden,
And my path dreary,
And my strength small,
A song keeps singing in my heart:
For I know that I am Thine;
I am part of Thee;
Thou art kin to me,
And all my times, all my times are in Thy hands.

And here are some photos of the current state of our plants after all our Spring rain, then being basked by some summer sunshine. We had to water for the first time this year on Saturday.
Peonies have such a delightful but short season. I’m always in awe of their beauty.

These two are celebrating their 7th Anniversary. They spent Sunday without their little ones in tow and had a nice time in Spokane which included bowling. They met each other at the bowling alley in Colville and that’s where it all began. Happy Anniversary Dan and Jamie! We love the two of you together! God bless you with many many more anniversaries!

Hope you all have a beautiful week which brings us into July.

Peonies and Puzzles

Most of our white peonies decided to be ready at the same time so I scrambled to find containers for them. Our house has a wonderful fragrance from these blooms.

Weekend before last we finished up my London Puzzle, #15 in the books.

Last night we had a thunder and lightning storm and as I look out this morning our pink peonies are just about ready to burst, too. Yikes I’m running out of vases, pitchers and other containers!

Our ‘server’, whoever that is, will not upload any more of my photos this morning so I’ll leave you with these. I’m off to get our car serviced at the local Toyota dealer.

When I came in from weeding the server decided I could upload more photos.

Thankful that our yards got a good watering with the storm in the early hours so I won’t need to water today. I appreciate God’s watering! Have a good day everyone.

White Peonies

My white peony bush is so full of blooms that it is hard to keep up with them. I’ve shared some bouquets but many of our friends have bushes of their own. If someone was getting married this week they could have a beautiful bouquet from our backyard.

We have a quiet weekend coming up and I’m good with that. Next week is busy ending with a busy weekend.

Hope you have a good weekend.
