Trim the Tree Thursday ~ Camarillo Ranch House

For Trim the Tree Thursday I’m going to share my tour of the Camarillo Ranch House here in my city with you. It’s the Victorian Home of the family who our city is named after. If you’d like to read about the history of this grand home you can click here.

The House is all decked out for Christmas in Camarillo

This is the main entry tree and the largest tree in the home.

Most every room in the house has a tree of it’s own

All of them are so unique.

This Hall Tree is in the main entry.

There are wonderful pieces of furniture in every room.

I would love to have a dining room this size!

Looking back into the Parlor from the Dining room with one of the docents in costume.

The family dining area.

One of the side entries to the house.

In the kitchen…

The table in the kitchen.

The family was known for their famous White Horses and there is a room in the house with these great saddles with beautiful silver pommels.

Time to go up the grand staircase to the bedrooms upstairs.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of the Historic Landmark, Camarillo Ranch House.

A very Merry Christmas to you all.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007 to 2015 hostage and has replaced them all with ugly black and grey boxes asking for a ransom to have them re-published. Such a frustrating bother as I go through each post to delete the ugly boxes.

Trim the Tree Thursday

Welcome to Trim the Tree Thursday hosted by Brett at the Southern Hostess.

This is what you see when you come up to our front door at our home in Washington. See that gold ribbon? It is tied to both the wreath and the wall hanging. I just drape the ribbon over the door and the wreath hangs nicely on the outside of the door and the Ho Ho Ho wall hanging hangs on the inside of the door. No hooks necessary and the weight of each keeps them in place during the whole Christmas season…

This is a little glimpse into our living room where we always have our tree…

Trim the Tree Thursday

****If you clicked here for Trim the Tree on December 11th this is the wrong spot!! Please click here to see my new current Trim the Tree.

We’ve always gone with the traditional red and green theme for our Christmas tree. We have thrown in some gold with the red and green. If I’m going to change up anything for Christmas it will reflect itself in our table settings and not the tree. There are so many ornaments we’ve collected over the years that we’d miss if they didn’t appear on the tree. I really love my Beatrix Potter ornaments. These are Hunca Munca and the Amiable Guinea Pig.

Here are some of my vintage Christmas goodies that we inherited from Dear’s mother Verna…

So here’s my dilemma this year. I live most of my days in Southern California because of my husband’s job but we celebrate Christmas where all my Christmas goodies are, in my home in Washington. My children all live in Washington. The last couple of years I’ve been home in Washington the whole month of December so I can decorate and get ready for Christmas. This year is an odd year because we decided it was time for our kids to come down and spend Christmas Eve with my extended family in Southern California. My parents (their grandparents) are 85-ish and we haven’t spent Christmas with them since about 1990!! So I’m only in Washington for 10 days which included Thanksgiving. I leave for California on the 6th of December. My kids fly down on the 23rd of December and spend Christmas Eve with my family. Then we jump on a plane Christmas morning at 6:30 am to fly back to Seattle for 10 days. Josh and his wife Laura will need to spend Christmas Day with Laura’s family since we hijacked them on Christmas Eve. So in typing all this out I have come to the conclusion that a Christmas Tree is just not going to work out for us this year. I’ll put up all the other decor and we’ll just concentrate on Christmas Stockings and forget the tree.

So…any photos you see of a tree will be my tree from last year!

Trim the Tree Thursday

Brett is hosting a fun meme on Thursdays called Trim the Tree. You can see details here. The first Trim the Tree was last Thursday.

I’m starting simple and showing you a collage of some of my Christmas decor that also tells some of my story.

I was married to Dear in December of 1974 and the Christmas 1974 Ornament was a Wedding Shower gift from friends of ours Bob and Lela. Then there’s Jesus in the manger, Dear and I are both committed followers of Jesus Christ and our Christmas celebrations are centered around his coming “at just the right time”.  “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  The Wise men, could have been more than three :0) I love the story of the Wisemen who sought out the star to see prophecy fulfilled. I’m still on the look out for a Nativity Set. We have a little wooden set that I bought when the kids were little so they could play with it. The last little box to explain are ornaments that picture our 3 children, Josh in the mit, Dan in the soccer ball, and Katie in the Angel. We have been blessed to have these three unique individuals in our lives and since 2001 we have been blessed again with our DIL Laura who married Josh.

I’m looking forward to sharing more of our Christmas Trimmings in the weeks to come. You can see some lovely trees and trimmings by heading over to Brett’s at The Southern Hostess.

***and NO, my Christmas decorations are not up yet, these photos are from my archives 2007!  :0)
