Another Day of Adventure Complete!

I’m looking forward to being home tomorrow and getting around to uploading and editing my photos to share later this week.  Dear and I had a wonderful meal tonight in Ashland with Sandy, The Reluctant Entertainer and her husband. I knew I’d love her before we met and it was great to see her face to face. For now I’m crawling into this comfortable bed and resting my traveling body…

Happy March to all of you!!

Safe at The Rose in Pleasanton…

…more to follow next week.

We saw huge beaking waves all along the coast of California today, stopped in the Garlic Capitol of the World and arrived safe and sound at our amazing hotel in Pleasanton, California. We walked the charming Main St. and now I’m running hot water for a jacuzzi bath…Calgon take me away!! More photos to come next week!

Blessings on your Sunday!

Have A Little Sunshine…

I hope you find some sunshine today!

“…He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous…”

I’m tying up all the loose ends and packing my car for an early morning take-off on Saturday. We’re taking a few days to get home with some fun destinations and meetings along the way. I’ll share later next week when we get settled at home.

Congratulations to my Canadian friends and the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team for their win last night! That goalie deserved a shut-out!  I wanted our U.S. team to fair better but by the end of the game I told Dear that the Canadian Goalie earned the shut-out!

FFF ~ Yes…It All Happened This Week!

Glory! Where do I begin…

Ground Hog Day was monumental in our lives… Why?

1. Dear put in for his retirement from his company and has 21 days left there…

2. We put our condo on the market.

3. My condo has never been cleaner ….ever…

Then on Wednesday…

4. We flew to Seattle to see our kids, especially to see Dan. Dear hadn’t seen him for 5-1/2 months, Katie and Laura  hadn’t seen him for 5 months and the last time Josh and I saw him was in November. We had a belated traditional Christmas Eve dinner Thursday night. Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, Mashed potatoes and Creamed Corn. Good times together before Dan heads off again for several months. Friday night we’re having an Open House Party for friends and family to come and see Dan before he takes off on Saturday.

5. It’s good being home and knowing I’ll be a one home woman again soon. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Now to just figure out where to put 2 households worth of dishes!! Thankfully Dan will be setting up living quarters in Eastern Washington soon and he’ll be able to use lots of our condo goods!

There are people and things I’ll miss in Southern California and I’ve already had many a good cry in the shower over leaving certain people behind…more on that later.

6. Bonus! I’ll be posting soon about having one of my stories of my pop’s conversion published in a tribute to Billy Graham and his ministry…

Please visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to see more favorites or to join in… I probably will be late getting around to everyone because I’m cooking up a storm for an open house tonight.

The photo was taken at dawn on Thursday from my deck in Washington…

She’s Hitting the Floor Running…

Back at the homestead in Washington and I’m getting my lists going. We’ve seen one of our kids. We know another one is here sleeping so we’ll see him soon. It’s always funny to see what is still in the refrigerator left over from Christmas when I was here last. So I’ve dumped the Egg Nog and a few other things! Deciding on what’s for dinner and what we’ll serve at the party tomorrow night. The sunrise this morning was beautiful. The water tastes great and cold straight out of the tap. Just enjoying the little things that make “home” wonderful. Oh did I mention I love my king-size mattress.

Have a wonderful day!

Like a Bird Flying South…

Dear and I boarded a flight at Seatac Airport on Sunday afternoon to LAX with very little Security issues and once again made the comment …
“Flying out of Seattle is so nice compared to other airports”!! I got this shot of Rainier before everything clouded over!

Then we talked to our seating companion who flew out of Canada to the U.S. and told us he had to go through 4 security screenings and then had to have a full body search. He couldn’t have anything under the seat in front of him except for a size restricted personal bag, no carry on luggage.  So flying into the U.S. is a bit tough right now…

We arrived in L.A. and made it back to the condo in great time hardly ever needing to use our brakes which is a good thing because our brake lights were not working! Thank you to my sister Kathy and our BIL Len being brave enough to deliver that car without brake lights to us at the airport.

Dear caught a icky bug and is under the weather so I had to pick him up from work early today. I was able to pick up the part we needed for the car and it’s working beautifully now so I’ll make a visit to the CHP tomorrow and have them OK the repair so we don’t have to pay a fine. Oh right I forgot to tell you that over the Christmas break my brother from Dallas was using our car and got a ticket for not having brake lights. Ouch! We had no idea the brake lights weren’t working when we loaned him the car…

Today I’ve enjoyed the lovely winter skies here in Camarillo. Sunny and warm with great clouds. Tomorrow Willow and I will resume our walks! Yippee! So much to catch up on. Dear cleaned the condo real nice before he came north so I don’t have much to do around here. Hope you all are getting in the swing of things in 2010!

Looking Back at 2009…

Ellen b.’s highlights for the year 2009! It’s all about Family, Friends, Food, and Walking! God has blessed us richly!

This will be my First Fave Five post for 2010. I apologize up front for the way over 5 photo overload!! Please visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in with Friday’s Fave Five…

Weekend getaway to the Central Coast in California over Martin Luther King weekend.

Walking throughout the year is always a highlight! Early Saturday morning walks with Dear at Emma Wood. Walks in Willow’s neighborhood or an occasional beach walk or a walk at the Blueberry Farm with Joy always provides good fellowship and encouragement. Walks in the Seattle area on the Burke Gilman trail with my Saturday morning walking buddies Jan and Jody (we have been doing this for 10 years now). An occasional walk on the Burke Gilman during the week with my friend Beth. I love to walk with people not alone…and if there’s a donut shop at the end of the walk that’s icing on the cake! :0)

My birthday celebration in March at the Tam O’ Shanter.

The tragic tea in April where my mother fell and had to spend her tea time at the hospital.

Easter is my favorite holiday of the year because of what Christ accomplished for us. This was the first year we made Kulich (Russian Easter Bread) on our own, too!

In May my brother’s family arrived just in time for Mother’s Day, a couple birthday parties and then we had a family outing at Disneyland!

Memorial Weekend in Seattle.

June ~ The Sounders were in L.A. and we had a quick visit with Josh…

End of June my cousin’s son got married and we stopped in for the fabulous event on our roadtrip to Seattle.

Fourth of July in Seattle…

Later in July my niece visited and we did some fun touristy things including a Mariner’s game.

August we made a quick ferry trip to Vancouver Island to see Butchart Gardens and Victoria!

Later in August brought another visit from Brother and his family to Southern California. We again enjoyed meals, a baby shower, and Disneyland!

September we celebrated Dear’s birthday at Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar.

On Labor Day our son headed out for his new vocation and Dear and I made another trip to the Central Coast.

September 29th Katie and I made a day trip to Vancouver, B.C. and visited Stanley Park and the Aquarium.

In October we re-did the tragic tea but this time there were no tragedies. The newest member of the family was in attendance.

November was filled with great family events. New Mexico to attend Daniel’s graduation.

Our Annual Black Friday Tea after shopping at Goodwill.

Fun times with our Thanksgiving Company.

Thanksgiving Day…

December brought a fun celebration of Katie’s completion of her degree.

Christmas 2009!

Our last big celebration of the year is Katie’s birthday which falls on December 27th!

If you managed to make it through all of this, congratulations! Hoping for a year of acknowledging daily God’s blessings in our lives…

Safe Travels Everyone!

Look at all those planes in the sky lining up to land at SeaTac Airport. If you are flying this Christmas Season I hope you reach your destination safe and sound. Blessings…

Ruby in New Mexico…

It’s time to visit Mary at Work of the Poet for Ruby Tuesday. Thanks for being a great hostess Mary! Christmas time is great for finding ruby all over the place.

I took all these photos in New Mexico the weekend of Thanksgiving except for the kissing Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Those cuties are sitting on my kitchen counter. My oldest son and I were in the “Land of the Sun” for my middle son’s graduation and we didn’t have to wear sunglasses once. It even snowed on us!! I was real excited when I spotted that Christmas Hydrant. The signs just made me chuckle…
