Marcus Cider Fest 2025

Every October the little town of Marcus hosts a Cider Fest that is well attended. It starts with a parade on Saturday. This year the weather was so nice it seemed the attendees and cars in the parade doubled!

We spotted Dan, Jamie and our Grands arriving in Jamie’s 1964 T-bird. Jamie’s Granny bought the car for Jamie’s Grandfather. Jamie inherited the car.

All the usual suspects were lined up to enjoy the parade, Granny Great, Granny, Dan, Jamie, Gramps, Addy and JJ. Addy and JJ were ready to gather all the candy that the parade participants threw to the kids along the parade route.

The highway is shut down for the duration of the parade.

There was a clown this year.

Royalty came from nearby communities.

Batman was unexpected.

Our state representative and his family participated, too.

The sheriff was the caboose for the parade keeping the regular traffic at bay for the duration.

I took this photo of our kids/grands in front of the t-bird. I asked Auntie Lolo if she could clean up the photo and the photo below is the result.

This year one of the choices at the food stalls was smoked turkey legs. We decided on this treat.

I snapped this shot on the way home and you can see part of the area across the Columbia that was burned.

We enjoyed our caramel apple when we got home from the Fest, delicious. We also brought home a half gallon of fresh apple cider.

Marcus Ciderfest 2024

It was that apple time of year again and we headed out to Marcus on Saturday to enjoy the small town Ciderfest.

The kids had Jamie’s Thunderbird on display again.

We had another glorious sunny albeit chilly start to the fest.

The Grands enjoyed playing checkers before the parade began and while many folk came around to look at the Thunderbird.

Here comes Granny Great and Jim. Granny Great threw out a lot of candy for her great grands!

After the parade we stood in line for our caramel apples and a half-gallon of fresh apple cider and headed home.

The views of the Columbia were glorious again this year.

Marcus Cider Fest & Parade

On Saturday morning we headed north on highway 25 along the Columbia River/Lake Roosevelt to the little town of Marcus. Marcus hosts the best little festival around. Annually in October the crowds head to Marcus for Cider Fest and the Parade.

We were so happy to see the day dawn with the promise of sunshine instead of rain.

The parade rolls along right on Highway 25. We found our spots and waited for it to begin.

Some of the firetrucks and other vehicles are loud and Addy had to hold her ears.

Smokey the Bear even made an appearance!

90% of the parade participants threw handfuls of candy to any kids along the parade route.

Dear kept tabs on Addy to keep her safe.

JJ will have more fun next year at the parade when he can pick up candy, too.

After the parade we met up with “our people” to enjoy some of the classic cider fest treats like fresh pressed apple cider and caramel apples. My cousin Jim, from California, enjoyed the fest and made some purchases to take home with him. Dear bought some local honey for us.

Addy was leading Gramps along and then Uncle Scott took over.

So sweet to see JJ’s big smiles while looking at his mommy.

You can’t get any fresher than this. Look at all that pomace (pulp/skin) discarded to get the fresh pressed cider. The cider was so sweet and delicious! They sold it by the gallon, half gallon, and by the glass.

We said goodbye to our people and headed home with a stop along the highway to get some photos of Lake Roosevelt. What a beautiful day it was.

After we dropped our purchases off at home we headed south to our favorite Mexican restaurant with Jim and after lunch we took some back roads on our way home.

Today, Monday the 7th, Dear and my cousin are going to try to get the trusses up on the shop posts with the help of our son’s tractor. I’ll be praying along during the process for sure!
