It Is Well With My Soul ~ Hymn

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain

Words: Horatio G. Spafford, 1873.

This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.

We sang this at Sophie Wozniuk’s Funeral on Wednesday and I decided to share it for my Sunday Hymn.

ABC’s of the Word ~ W

You rule over the surging sea;
    when its waves mount up, you still them. Psalm 89:9 (NIV)

Jesus Calms the Storm

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

I pulled this out of my archives for W today because my brain is on overload and it needs a little rest before I can come up with anything new. We had a glorious celebration and reunion yesterday at Sophie Wozniuk’s funeral and I’ll post more about it when my brain revives. Blessings on all of you.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

WFW ~ Luke 19: 37-40

As he was drawing near – already on the way down to Mount of Olives – the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you if these were silent the very stones would cry out.”

Fairest Lord Jesus ~ Hymn

Fairest Lord Jesus

Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man the Son,
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,
Thou, my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Fair is the sunshine,
Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels heaven can boast.

All fairest beauty, heavenly and earthly,
Wondrously, Jesus, is found in Thee;
None can be nearer, fairer or dearer,
Than Thou, my Savior, art to me.

Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration,
Now and forever more be Thine.

WFW ~ Mark 10: 13-16

Mark 10:13-16 (New International Version)

 The Little Children and Jesus

 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Good Friday 2009 ~

Luke 23: 44-46 ~ “It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.” Having said thus, He breathed His last.”

I’m so happy we know the rest of the crucifixion story and that Jesus rose from the dead and lives, not just lives, but rules and reigns at the right hand of God and can rule and reign in our own hearts! Looking forward to enjoying the whole weekend with preparations and celebrations! Blessings…

Blue Monday ~ My Blue Crystal Cross

Welcome to Blue Monday and Holy Week in the world and on my Blog. This is a cross necklace I’ve had for a few years that I enjoy wearing.

The Beauty of the Cross (Crystal Lewis)

King of my life I crown You now
You’re the ruler of my heart
I will wear it loud
I will tell the whole world about You
You died in my place
You suffered all for me
Just so I could live
You were broken and bruised
And I will tell the whole world about You

The cross, stained by blood
The beauty of the cross
Healing for the lost
The cross, stained by blood
The beauty of the cross
Healing for the lost
The cross

King of my life I crown You now
You’re healer I’ve longed for
Now of heaven I’m sure
And I will tell the whole world about You

Thorns on Your brow
Stripes on Your back
So innocent, You did it all for me
Nails in Your hands
Nails in Your feet
Sword in Your side, You did it all for me
You paid the cost
That’s the beauty of the cross

~ Crystal Lewis

I just noticed when uploading my photos that I’m missing a crystal out of my cross pendant. Will have to repair that soon :0)

Have a wonderful Monday everyone and visit our hostess Sally to see more posts about Blue!

Have a wonderful Palm Sunday and beginning of Holy Week everyone…

Because of my very interesting day yesterday which I will share sometime soon I’m reposting my Palm Sunday Hymn from last year.  We have a new modem so my technical difficulities have been healed till the next time. Thank you to my sister Lana for posting such a beautiful explanation of why I haven’t been online.

All of my posts this coming Holy Week will be concentrated on the events of this week in history and all related to Jesus and the Cross and His Resurrection! This is a great challenge for me to incorporate Easter into all the weekly challenges I participate in.
