Q is for…

For April I’m challenging myself to an A-Z photo a day excluding Sundays and in addition to any regular posts that come to be.

Today is Saturday April 19th, the day in between Good Friday and Easter.

Q is for Quail. We enjoy a covey of them that visit regularly.

Quail in Spring.

Quail in Winter

Quail in Autumn

A California Quail on a Quilt square from a Quilt that Greg’s mother, Verna, embroidered and quilted when we just had 48 states in the U.S.A. There are 48 squares with each of the states represented in the year she quilted it.

Our Own Backyard

As the saying goes here is what has been going on right here in Colville.

We made it out in the cold to the Rotary Trail on Tuesday last week. We lasted for a good 30 minutes before our faces got too cold to go on. It was invigorating.

Our backyard quail have been visiting regularly.

JJ is enjoying Taekwondo. His uniform was a Christmas present. He also started Basketball and is enjoying it. These indoor activities help to give him the added exercise he needs when winter weather keeps him inside.

All the Christmas bins are up and away. This morning I’m having a house cleaner in for the first time ever. That appointment got me motivated to do some organizing and clearing surfaces here. That snowballed into me working on the kitchen cupboards and the pantry. While doing that our pile of garage sale items got larger and larger. I have only put a dent into downsizing our possessions but it feels good. At least I didn’t vacuum before the cleaner comes! šŸ™‚

This will be a busier week than usual with meetings, appointment in Spokane, more meetings and a birthday dinner here on Saturday. How is your week shaping up?

Closer to Home

Things are shaping up here at our country bungalow in preparation for our Thanksgiving Festivities.

Our feathered friends have made some fine appearances, too.

We’ve noticed with our covey of Quails that there is always a lookout stationed above the rest to let them know of impending danger.

We love it when quail come to visit.

This beauty also graced us with an appearance long enough for some photos.

I’m guessing this is a Northern Flicker. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m working on a puzzle of Dublin and have made some good progress. I’ll need to finish this one before Thanksgiving.

What is new in your corner of the world.

Our Entertainment and Lesson

Matthew 6:25-34 (ESV) “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,

yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.Ā

This is a quiet weekend and mostly quiet week leading up to Christmas.

I’ll be linking up with Saturday Critters hosted by Eileen at Viewing Nature With Eileen.

Q is for Quail and Questions

Q is the letter of the alphabet that we are on for Monday April 20th.

We are always pleased to see a covey of quail show up on our property.

We are headed to Spokane today to buy some replacement tiles for our backsplash in the laundry room. One piece cracked when Dear was fitting the electric outlet. Oops. We are buying two pieces of the tile this time around…just in case. We are so close to that room being completed.

Questions for you since we are on the letter Q:

  1. Do you know what day of the week it is without double checking?
  2. Do you have a good supply of toilet paper and other paper products?
  3. Do you know where you will spend eternity?
  4. Do you have good internet service and cell phone service where you live?
  5. What restaurant do you miss most?
  6. What is the latest Bible passage you have read that gives you hope?
  7. lf you enjoy sports what sport team do you miss the most?
  8. What is something you have baked during COVID-19 for the first time?
  9. Who do you miss hugging the most?
  10. Do you have a prayer request for me? I will pray if you share.
