Tablescape Thursday ~ Roosters…

Time again to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to be inspired to set your table by seeing the creativity of Bloggers around the world.

Well I should have posted this last week when we were having our Rooster Party over at Barb’s but here it is a week late and a few dollars short. Just a few because like usual I bought most of this stuff on clearance or thrifting.

I’m happy to say we had a meal at this table way back in mid July! My brother and his wife came over for the afternoon and we went out for lunch and then barbecued Salmon for dinner. My SIL made her fabulous Mexican rice to go with the coleslaw and Salmon. Dear barbecued the Salmon so I just sat on my duff! This dinner plan worked out good because my back decided to freeze up on me after helping some young folks at our church scrape their popcorn ceilings in the morning before Tim and Letty arrived. I was also happy I had the table all set the day before so I could take the photos for Tablescape Thursday which made it easy for everyone to wait on me for dinner on Saturday.

You can see I was able to get up off the couch to snap some shots of our guests at the table and sit down again to enjoy the meal!

Just to clarify this table and dinner was way back mid July. My back is just fine today!!

Tablescape Thursday ~ Baby Girl Shower!

For Tablescape Thursday this week I’m sharing my photos from a shower we had for my niece Michelle this past Sunday. Her and Ryan’s baby girl is due in September. We worked around a pink and brown tea theme.

Let There Be White!

The time is here to show our white and Kathleen at Cuisine Kathleen is our lovely hostess. Click on over to join in or to see more white.

A lot of old white mixed in with new white.

I was happy to be able to pull out my white creamers to use as vases for the white flowers. The milk glass cake pedestal is from my MIL Verna’s collection that we ended up with.

The milky white hob nail dishes are from my MIL, too.

While I was putting together my white table I had an audience. My daughter Katie joined in the fun by putting the white flower in her hair while she ate her breakfast cereal…

Tablescape Thursday ~ Rose Colored Garden

When I’m at my home in Washington I usually change the tablecloth on our only dining table every couple weeks. Because our stay here is winding down and we have no more big events I took out a couple leaves from the table and found a shorter tablecloth. Having my new inspiration for Tablescape Thursday it was time to search high and low for what to add to the tablecloth.

I started with the hydrangea in one of my depression glass containers and candlesticks.

Some fun layering of plates. The smaller salad/dessert plate is Royal Swan, Blossomtime, Staffordshire, England. The larger floral edged plate is Nikko tableware.

The tea cups and saucers are Churchill. The gold tassel napkin rings were Target Christmas clearance. The tablecloth and napkins are from Goodwill.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Lemons and Apples…

It’s time again for Susan’s Tablescape Thursday. Make sure and click on the logo below to get to Between Naps on the Porch and  to see all the tables inspired by this, that and the other. Thank you so much Susan for hosting!

This week my table inspiration was a yellow two tiered server decorated with lemons and blue flowers and green leaves.

The green apples are off my apple tree. I found a yellow tablecloth the same day I purchased the server for $2.50. The green planter boxes came in a set of 3 with a oblong tin holder for $3.99. I only used two of the planter boxes. I had the apple green napkins from years ago and added the vintage looking hankies that I bought for 50 cents each. The napkin rings were 6 for $2.99.

I used my Italian Countryside everyday white dishes and layered them with these garden dishes that I purchased for $6.99 for a set of 8. The goblets were another Goodwill purchase and I paid $1.49 each for them.

This table setting was used twice in one day for Brunch and Dinner with actual human beings sitting at it and eating from it. I love it when that happens. Here are two of the pretties that sat at the table.

And here’s our dinner…

And just in order to stay “real”, here’s how the table looked after dinner and before dessert! :0)

Happy Thursday everyone. I’ll be coming around soon to see your tables!

Tablescape Thursday ~ Pink Quilt

Tablescape Thursday is upon us. Please visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see lots of tables set for your pleasure.

This table is from my condo in Southern California. I used a Shabby Chic quilt for the tablecloth originally from Target that I purchased at Goodwill.

Everything on this table again is from Goodwill except for the wired cloche and the flowered napkins.

I’m so glad I had this post in my archives because it has been waaayyyy to Hot Hot Hot here in the great Northwest to get creative with a tablescape or exert the energy to set the table. I just looked at my outdoor thermometer and it registers at 100! It’s official now Western Washington has set history at having the hottest temps ever on record. The latest weather for my area is 103.6! Hope you are cooler where you are.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Red & Gold

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday the fun weekly event hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. She’s so creative at putting her tables together and it’s so much fun to see the different creations from people all over Bloggy World each week. Just click on the link to see more!

When my daughter and I put together the Moroccan Shower for her friend Kristen I decided to set the table in the kitchen along the same theme and for our fall back just in case the weather got too nasty to eat in our Moroccan tent outside. The weather held till just after dessert so we were thrilled.

This is another combination Thrift Store ~ Target Clearance ~ with plates from the Bon Marche (better known as Macy’s today) tablescape.

I’m sure you tablescapers understand the drill… I found this fun tablecloth and then searched the cupboards all over the house for anything to go with the color scheme!

I’m glad I had this post archived because I’ve been slow getting around in bloggy world this week. Busy with my kids in Seattle and today I’m sitting and comforting my poor hurting daughter who got a horrible sunburn and is now in the most painful itching experience of her life. I’ve been massaging her feet and making sure she eats and takes the right meds at the right hour. I know you’ll understand my slowness in getting around the sphere…Blessings!

Update: My daughter is doing so much better today. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers!

Moroccan Shower and Tablescape

I’m posting my photos from our Moroccan Bridal Shower now and will link these up for Tablescape Thursday later in the week on Susan’s Between Naps on the Porch Blog. I’m traveling back to L.A. from Seattle tomorrow for a funeral on Wednesday and won’t be around the computer much. I’m staying at my condo in Camarillo until Monday the 20th when I fly back to Seattle and finish off my scheduled time here.

My daughter and I decorated our deck gazebo on Sunday for a Bridal shower for her friend Kristen. Katie is in the wedding in August. We decided on this theme because Kristen has enjoyed this culture and has taken Belly Dancing courses. It took Katie and I a couple hours to decorate the gazebo.

Here’s what we started with. The pile of stuff in the top photo are things I’ve accumulated from Goodwill and other thrift stores with this theme in mind. Yards of fabric and window scarfs are inexpensive second hand for the amount of fabric you get. We also used large tablecloths we had on hand that worked in with the colors.

This is the final result. The Bride to be was so pleased and “blown away” at what we created in honor of her.

We could have used a lot more safety pins then we had but ties really came in handy as did the good ole stapler.

I prepared Rack of Lamb with Ina Garten’s recipe from her Barefoot Contessa Parties book. The mustard mixture that coats the racks seasons the lamb so well. I’ll share the recipe later. I also made basmati rice with almonds and raisens.  The salad we served was with persian cucumbers and a persian salad dressing.

Because Kristen is gluten intolerant we found a gluten free brownie mix and prepared the brownies and served them with rasberries and a chocolate sauce.

As dessert was served the winds whipped up and the rains came down followed with thunder and lightning. The girls evacuated to the family room for opening presents and some nice hot tea.

Thank you for visiting. I hope to get around bloggyland on Thursday after my travels and the funeral. Blessings!

On Thursday you can see more scapes at Between Naps on the Porch.

Tablescape Thursday ~ Lighthouses

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday. Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is our hostess for this event. Click on over to her beautiful blog to see more scapes.

Before I left our condo in California for our home in Washington State I had some fun with this table. I had 4 Gracey Knight salad plates called Nantucket Shoreline that I wanted to create a table top around. My shells from my beach walks in the ginger jar made a fun centerpiece to go with these lighthouses.

I bought these 12 shell napkin rings at a local garage sale for $1.00. The light blue glass chargers cost me a 99 cents each at my local Goodwill.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Tablescape Thursday ~ In Honor of the 4th!

Well I’m thinking we are going to see a lot of Red, White and Blue this week on our tables. It’s time for Tablescape Thursday so visit our hostess Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see a variety of tables decked out for our viewing pleasure!

Dear and I arrived to our home in Washington on Sunday night after 15 hours on the road. We drove from California. I will be in Washington for the next 6 weeks. Dear flies back to California on Sunday. Boohoo! On Monday evening we had all our kids around the table for a meal. Now that is a wonderful thing.

I decided to bring out the red, white and blue for the week. On Saturday we’re having a gathering so this will serve as the buffet table for that event.

For those of you who live in the U.S.A.,  hope you all have safe and sane 4th of July celebrations. Thanks for stopping by…
