We have another Red Flag warning in our county and surrounding counties. The rising sun is affected by the smoke.
We carry on and persevere. Our Grands had swimming and soccer cancelled a few days this past week because of the air quality.
We had another successful VBS week and there were many excited children participating each night of last week. Hats off to the 125 volunteers who helped make the week run smoothly.
No outdoor work this past week so I did the lazy thing and finished this puzzle.
It’s a puzzle, not treats for my pantry! It was another thrift store puzzle. This one was brand new and sealed so I was confident all the pieces would be there.
Today we will continue with indoor things.

How sad there are so many fires and that it affects air quality. Hopefully a little rain in your future to damp things down. No change over here. About to enter heatwave #5. No rain at all. Iām guessing we might all have a very wet autumn to compensate. B x
Wow! In addition to damage caused by the fires, I imagine folks with asthma might be suffering in your part of the U.S. There is so much smoke! I’m so glad you had a wonderful VBS week! While you were working the puzzle, did you find yourself craving candy? haha!

Same here! I check our air qaulity on Air Now (dot) Gov a few times a day and notice it gets worse as the day goes on with the sun’s heat. We keep our windows closed, air conditioning on and portable hepa air filter machines going. It has been an unusal hot dry summer here and the wildfire smoke has made it worse!

That puzzle is great!!!! I love puzzles and have done quite a few this summer. I am sorry about the air quality! Man!! How wonderful about VBS!! I love VBS and our children loved it when they were young. They still talk of fond memories of it.
All the fires sound awful but the smoke does make some pretty pictures though. I love the M&M’s puzzle.

Ugh! Wildfire smoke is so depressing, and the threat of encroaching fire itself even worse. It was an issue up north where I visited my daughter this week, though evidently the fires themselves weren’t close by….
Ellen, those red flag warnings and all that smoke sound awful. It’s such a shame that the air quality has been bad enough to cancel the children’s swimming and soccer, although I’m really glad you were still able to have such a successful VBS week. 125 volunteers is an amazing effort, and I’m sure the children had a wonderful time.
As a blind man, I always enjoy having your posts read aloud to me, because it means I can still experience all the little details you share, even though I struggle to see the photos for myself. And I have to admit, when I heard you describe that puzzle, I immediately thought, “Wait… is that actually a puzzle or have Ellen just got a very impressive stash of M&M’s?” š It certainly looks tempting!
Hopefully the air clears soon and you can all get back outside again. Until then, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of indoor time and a good puzzle. Sometimes it’s nice to have an excuse to slow down a little. š
