Balancing the Hodgepodge

I think this cake could qualify for my plate of beige food!

A new set of Wednesday Hodgepodge questions have come our way From This Side of the Pond. Thank you, Joyce.

1. What do you make more complicated than it needs to be?

Answering some of the Hodgepodge questions! 🙂

2. What impresses you?

Hard working young people.

3. On a scale of 1-10 how picky of an eater are you?  (1=extremely and 10=not at all)

I’ll go with an 8. No liver for me, thank you. Not a fan of raw fish, either.

If you had to eat a meal made entirely of one color what color would you choose?

Beige or light brown as in a Thanksgiving plate of turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes covered in beige gravy and a beige soft roll on the side. Also…see photo up top!

4. What does balance in life mean to you? Does your life currently feel ‘balanced’?

A good combination of home life responsibilities, keeping relationships at peace, and adding in some good adventures is a good balance in life. Giving freely and receiving graciously are important, too. Knowing the God who created me and having peace with Him through Jesus Christ gives me spiritual balance and security.

Currently things are seemingly balanced.

5. If you could travel the world for a year what would be your first destination?

The United Kingdom would be my first and my last destination. It would be amazing to travel all about that Kingdom with that much time. A whole year could be doable if our kids and grands and friends would meet up with us through the year.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

While we were away these three came by our house to water since we were having dry and warm days which isn’t typical for Spring.

This little guy was pleased as punch to find the snacks I left for him and his sister!

  1. Your answers were all so good. Question one’s answer- love it!! Your pictures are all so good. The cake is beautiful and the pics of your family are so good. Aww, sweet picture of a sweet filled snack area and the smiling face of your grandson! I like your answer to the balance question as well. Have a great day!

  2. My littlest grands go straight for the snack bin when they arrive : ) That cake is gorgeous! I picked red and thought that would be the most popular answer, but so far there is a lot of beige. That one never occurred to me. Have a great day!

  3. hahaha! I can relate to that for #1. I always overthink the questions for the Hodgepodge. No liver for me either but I do love all the beige foods! Ahh! I said the same for question 5 but my destination would be America. I would need a whole year to explore. Aww! How cute that the little guy found the snack cupboard.

  4. oh my goodness – he looks so cute with the snack cabinet in the background!! I somehow skipped over the food color question, but I like your answer – especially the Thanksgiving meal (one of my very favorite meals!). I could also do a red food plate because I love a lot of red fruit and red meat (even though it does turn brown when cooked!).

  5. I love your comments about balance, so insightful. And beige food. You have a unique way of looking at the world, Ellen, and I love it!

  6. I overthink the HodgePodge questions sometimes, too!

LOL – beige food but you’re absolutely correct with Thanksgiving dinner!

  7. I overthink the HodgePodge questions sometimes, too!

LOL – beige food but you’re absolutely correct with Thanksgiving dinner!

  8. Several of the same answers here! Thanksgiving dinner…and let’s go to England!!:) And I totally agree that knowing the Lord and walking with Him keeps things balanced. And gives security.

  9. Good answer on #1.

No liver for me either. Nothing like a Thanksgiving plate.

I’m glad your life is balanced. How nice that they took care of the house while you were gone.

  10. Your answers for #2 and #3 are exactly how I would answer. Traveling the world while friends and family meet up with you throughout the trip sounds ideal! I would love that! That was so nice of your family to stop by and water for you. And that smile upon finding the snacks is a great one! 🙂

  11. The food of one color made me laugh as I thought about the time years ago of the supper I made that we all still laugh about today.

Mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and white fish. :). Talk about a blah looking meal!!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
