Charlie Kirk Day

This is the shirt I’m wearing today for the National Day of Remembrance of Charlie Kirk. Today, October 14th, would have been his 32nd birthday.  The front and the back is shown above. It’s a small gesture of respect for his short life.

“His life was shaped by his faith and the idea that in America, debate and discussion are crucial to the betterment of our country. He believed in God, the American dream, the value of family, and the principles of our great nation.”

On Monday morning we woke up with the tops of our higher elevations sprinkled with snow.

I’ll be happy for the real snow to hold off until at least November!

On the other side of town, the first fire of the season was lit and enjoyed!

Have you turned your furnace or fireplace on?

  1. When i hear about snow hitting Washington state, I always think of you and wonder if it’s in your area. It’s beautiful on the mountains but I can understand you wanting the real snow to wait until November. I guess we will see what is in store. We have had the furnace on several times just to take the chill off and we have also had a fire going in the wood stove 3 times. I love this time of year.

  2. I am not quite ready for snow yet! but we are enjoying beautiful fall weather here in central KY. Yes, we have run our heater a few times already and probably will start the woodstove in a few weeks.

  3. That photo of the grands is so cute.j

No, we haven’t turned our furnace on yet. The nights have been cooler, we switched to flannels and heavier blanket. Our goal is the end of October. We’ll see… Willow

  4. No furnace here for a while yet, which makes me happy. Our power bills in the summer are ridiculous and we get a small reprieve this time of year with no ac and no heat. Well, occasionally we still need the ac in the fall. It’s way too early for snow in my opinion. In NJ we had two of the biggest snowstorms in October with more than a foot of snow falling, and all the trees were leafed out still so many fell. It was a mess. No threat of snow here though : ) I’m wearing my Freedom sweatshirt today. It’s lightweight so I don’t think I’ll be too warm.

  5. No furnace turned on here, but I have worn socks and long sleeves on my bike rides for the past 3 mornings!

The Charlie Kirk shirt is very nice. Did you get it at Walmart? I have not seen any like that at my Walmart.

    • Barbara, the shirt was from Wal-Mart (last year) but the transfer was purchased separately at the Cider festival and Jamie ironed it on the shirt for me.

  6. No heat on here yet though that cute photo with your grands staring at that wonderful fireplace is making me look forward to when we can sit in front of a roaring fire.

  7. That is a lovely shirt you have. It’s such a sad loss of a wonderful man. Lovely, we had some recent snow on the mountain tops too with the rain we had. Sweet photo by the fireplace.
