Brambly Hedge

I started a new puzzle last week and what a delight this one was. When a puzzle company like Cobble Hill includes a puzzle poster in the box it makes me grateful. It is much easier finding where a piece goes by looking at a poster instead of the top of the box.

The box lid always has portions of the art work covered up.

I finished the puzzle last weekend.

This was the Spring Story. They also have a Summer, Fall and Winter story. Are you familiar with Brambly Hedge books and China? The Fall teacup and saucer is the only one I have. It was a Goodwill purchase several years ago.

Royal Doulton Autumn, England, Jill Barklem 1983. Jill Barklem was a British writer and illustrator of children’s books. Her most famous work is the Brambly Hedge series, published from 1980.

Not sure what inspired me but I got some much needed tasks done in our office this week. I’m patting myself on the back for the organization that I completed this week. I shredded two large trash bags full of paperwork/receipts/etc. that we didn’t need lying around cluttering our world. Sorting through my desk I was able to again throw away things we don’t need and put things where they more logically belong. In the process our grab and go box is all set, too.

Do you have a grab and go box?

Happy Friday everyone!

  1. No, I don’t have a grab and go box but it sounds like a great idea! Congratulations on organizing your office. I have to do a lot of that myself. What a beautiful puzzle! I love the look of it as I do your exquisite China. All make for very pretty photos. Happy day to you Ellen!

  2. Lovely puzzle, Ellen. What a great Goodwill find! Good for you to do some shredding of paper work that is no longer needed. We did 6 bins a week ago. Yes, we were way behind in our shredding chores. Have a lovely weekend.

  3. Beautiful cup and saucer! I have the spring salad plate, a thrift find. Love the puzzle, as well as your last one, also. I’m on my 1000 piece right now.

I do not have a grab and go box, something to consider…

    • Hi Lauren, A grab and go box/bin is something you can grab and run out of your house with in the midst of any disaster like a wildfire or earthquake or flash flood, etc. Something easy to grab that has your important documents like passports, birth certificates, insurance documents, banking information, etc. The box can also be helpful to our children to know where all the important information is when we are promoted to heaven. 🙂

    • There are also emergency grab bags with things like water bottles, granola bars, bandages, and all sorts of survival type items that people keep in the trunk of their vehicles or in a handy closet to grab for the same type of emergencies. We don’t have one of those. 🙂

  4. That’s a great puzzle. I like when a poster is included too!! The dishes are so pretty. No, I’m not familiar with the books and dishes. Don’t have a grab and go box.

  5. I like puzzles but rarely have the patience to finish one. I have heard of Bambly Hedge but I am not sure I ever read them. I need to check them out for my grandchildren. We used to have an emergency grab bag but it has been a while since I have thought about it. I will need to check to see if it is still in the closet. Goodness! it sounds like I need to get my act together! lol!

  6. That puzzle is pretty and very busy! I’ve only done a few puzzles in my lifetime and have learned I’m not a puzzle person. Took me weeks to finish one! That china is beautiful. What is a Grab and Go Box?

  7. I do have all my important papers in a fire safe box. It’s heavy but I can still carry it out to the car. Thanks for the push to get my garb and go bag and my emergency kit checked and updated. (it helps that the grandboys need to make 1st aid kids for Trail Life badges).

I have never heard of Brambly Hedge anything. Now I will look it up.

    Happy weekend! Willow

  8. What a lovely puzzle! Also love the china … I too am in the “office organizing” mood these days. It’s perhaps a bit of procrastination to do the actual bookkeeping work I should be doing in there? Congrats on getting your’s organized. So glad you explained what a grab and go box is. That is such a great idea.

  9. I love the Brambly Hedge books and their sweet illustrations! The year that I was pregnant with Bekah, Target carried a line of Brambly Hedge themed products. Someone gave me a set of baby lotion and baby shampoo (and something else) from that line! I have happy memories of baby Bekah smelling like those products and I can smell them in my mind whenever I see the BH books or characters. Of course, I read that books to my youngest girls too. So much sweetness!

  10. I love the Tales of Brambly Hedge with their darling illustrations. The puzzle is just lovely. My little granddaughters love listening to the stories. Pipkin is a favourite of theirs.
