These turkeys flew up high into an apple tree on our neighbors property and it was funny to watch them balance on the branches.
Coming in for a landing…
We’ve had several days above freezing so our snow is melting and slipping off the roofs. The icicles are melting. It’s a slushy mess around here.
Some workers here in the USA will have the day off as it’s a National day to remember Martin Luther King, Jr.
Hope you have a good Monday.
Great series on the wild turkeys. They would entertain me too, fun post. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy new week!
Thank you, Eileen!
…these sure are entertaining, I’ve never captured one in flight.
The entertainment had us chuckling for a couple hours!
Oh my gosh they’re flying!!! I’ve seen wild turkeys from one side of the country to the other and lots of places in between but never in the air! Love these pics. Way to go.
Sallie, it’s a little shocking to see them fly into the evergreens and land on a branch. Thank you!
I honestly didn’t know turkeys could fly! Great photos. I have today off from work so Beth and I are planning to go shopping and spend the gift cards we got for Christmas. Hope you’re having a good day.
Cindy, It’s fun to see them fly. Hope you had success in your shopping day!
How fun to watch the turkeys. You sure got some fantastic shots of them.
Haven’t see the turkeys around here for a while now.
Thank you, Karen!
Your turkeys did more flying than strutting! They are quite entertaining! When we lived at the farmhouse, there were woods at the back of our property and I always hoped to see wild turkeys but we never did.
Cheryl, I think the snow is what inspired them to fly more than we usually see.
Those are amazing. You got some really good action photos!
Hi Bernideen, Thank you! Hope all is well.
Beautifully captured Ellen š
Thank you, Denise!
Ellen – we rarely see the turkeys in the trees – they are usually roaming in “rafters” and feeding on the ground. One time I have seen them roosting in a larch (tamarack). Had something scared them into the apple tree?
We have had a warming trend, and it’s not fun. Our unpaved roads around here become skating rinks!
Angie, Because their usual pecking for bugs etc. on the ground is covered with snow they were flying into the tree to find food. They were also trying to balance in some bushes where there were a few berries left. That was funny to watch, too. Oye the slushy drives have us rocking and rolling here. Our main roads are all down to pavement so they haven’t been bad. Stay safe!
