4. What’s a song you thought you knew the lyrics to, but later discovered you were wrong?
When I learned lyrics to a song I listened to them over and over and over again to get them right. In junior high we would listen to Leslie Gore songs on a record player pulling up the arm of the record player and setting down the needle carefully again and again until we knew the words by heart. I was in choirs and Christian singing groups and enjoyed music enough to get the words right. When our minds went blank and we forgot words in the middle of a concert we kept our mouths moving and never missed a beat.

I’ve been to Niagara Falls (both sides), Times Square, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Seattle Space Needle. Pike Place Market in Seattle is a tourist trap that I enjoy taking people to.
6. Your signature clothing item?
Blue jeans in public. My pink chenille robe in the privacy of my home! Sometimes you might see me in the yard early in the morning with my robe on. My Dear cringes when I head outside in my robe.
7. What’s an experience you’ve had you think everyone should experience at least once? Why?
Being the one in need of help. This is when you learn that it’s better to give than to receive. It’s hard to be the one who needs help. It’s a lot easier to be able to give…

I drove to Canada and back on Tuesday and spent some time with my Mennonite Girls and will be sharing about our time soon. I am happy to report I had very little rain on my windshield going and coming back home, woohoo! Hope to get around and meet some new Hodgepodge friends.

Hi Cheryl, I too am a blue jean lady and I tend to make a mad dash, which presents a problem for my thick wavy out of control hair.. 😅
I agree with you…I do much better with being a giver than receiving care from others. I’m a member of our church choir and if I get lost on the lyrics, I just move my mouth like I’m saying, “Watermelon”…works like a charm!

Sweet baby there! What a joy! I often go outdoors in my pink robe. We live out in the middle of nowhere with a long driveway, and many of our windows don’t even have shades. I loved the Leslie Gore songs, except, of course, for ‘Now it’s Judy’s turn to cry.’ LOL That fry bread looks amazing. Does it taste like raised donuts? I hope you get a reprieve from the rain soon.
We have had a lot of rain but sun as well and everything is growing, weeds included. : )

Hi Ellen, I enjoyed your post!! We’ve also had a bunch of rain here and flooding, as well. I have to admit that I was really grumpy yesterday and very glad to see the sunshine today. 🙂 Your new granddaughter is absolutely precious and I can certainly imagine how much joy she is bringing to all. I also remember doing that trick with the phonograph needle (had forgotten until I read this post). I love the song lyrics you shared at the end of the post — I’ve always liked that song. 🙂

I love this post, Ellen. We just got back from sunny dry Florida into rainy New Hampshire…I guess it rained the whole time we were away. I get well known sayings wrong too. I’ve been to Faneuil Hall and Quincy market in Boston, so much fun shopping! Niagara Fallis is on our bucket list! 😉❤
I walk outside in my jammies all the time in the morning, feeding the birds, taking pictures, taking out the trash… I’m pretty sure the neighbors think I’m nuts lol

Thankfully my neighbours are too far away to see me in my pjs. I’ve been know to stay in them all day … eek! Addy just looks so adorable – she truly is “sunshine on a cloudy day”. Our little sunshine love joined us for the farmer’s birthday tonight – she is my heart so I know how you feel!
I have the same food memory, I can’t remember if it was made from bun dough or bread dough, but this was something my mom often made on Saturday night and it would be part of (or all of!) our supper while we watched Hockey Night in Canada. We called it “schusterplautz”, spelling is a guess, I don’t know too many others that grew up with this treat.
