Oh what a glorious Saturday my sisters and I enjoyed on a 10 hour outing north to Mount Vernon and La Conner and then beyond to Whidbey Island over Deception Pass and south the whole length of the island. In this post I’m showing the fields of daffodils we enjoyed. But…first things first, when visiting tulip or daffodils fields it is good to don your mud boots!
I was happy to be able to come up with 3 pairs of good mucking boots/shoes and borrowed the fourth pair from our DIL.
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

From Mt. Vernon we traveled a short distance to La Conner for lunch and shopping. I’ll share some photos of our time there next. It was great to have leisurely time together to share about the challenges my oldest sister faces in caring for our dear old pop and the life changes my sister Vera faces in widowhood and moving out of the home she shared with her husband Nick. It’s good to let the tears roll freely and also to be able to laugh heartily with each other. Just for the record…we sisters have four brothers, too.
Really beautiful shots of earthly sunshine, both in the daffodils and in your faces!
So much loveliness. And a lovely idea to encourage your sister by gathering together for some fellowship and beauty.
How lovely that you didn’t have to wander lonely as clouds, you could wander together!! xx
Such gorgeous photos! The colors are awesome!
I’m glad you had such a wonderful day together.
I’ve never been blessed to see such beauty, blooming, in person…it’s on my Bucket list, tho. 🙂
Beautiful pictures
The field of daffodils is a wonderful sight, but the best photos are the ones of the lovely ladies looking so happy amongst the beautiful blooms.

Had a glitch earlier in the day…
Your sister time looks wonderful and the beauty of those daffodil fields is unequaled.
How beautiful those daffodils are, a real field of sunshine.
WOW! So beautiful – can’t believe all your spring flowers are already out!!!
Your Sister Time just gets better and better! I have always wanted to see those fields of daffodils. Perhaps this year I’ll make it down for the tulips!
Greetings Ellen! These daffodils are certainly a glorious sight. I saw a post recently on another blogger friend’s blog from these very same fields. I like to think that the two of you will meet one of these days. I am putting the link to her post here: http://sharynsowellartblog.blogspot.com/2016/03/yellow.html
Thanks Sara, I’ll check out Sharyn’s blog!
Beautiful! So glad you had a nice day!
Ellen, how fun to see you here. And YOU are the Mennonite girls? Oh, my! Our hearts are in the same place, and I’ve wanted to meet you all! Your photos are taken just around the corner from my home.
Do come back for tulips soon and I would love to say hello in person. And a slice of pie, maybe?
Hi Sharyn, I am one of the 10 Mennonite Girls. The only U.S. Girl and the only non-Mennonite. They adopted me because of our Russian connections. So nice to meet you. Blessings!
