…move swiftly and lightly
And not sing by my house all day;
When it seemed as if I could bear no more.
The bird was not to blame for his key.
In wanting to silence any song.
I have to say that the only birds I’ve clapped my hands at have been crows or woodpeckers.
Today was quite the bird event at our house. So many little, medium and big birds flying in and out. They would peck at the ground, at the bird feeders, in the planters.
How about this chubby Robin? We saw many Robins today.
A first for us was seeing a small hawk/falcon like bird and woodpecker having a life and death struggle. They both slammed into our French doors and landed on the deck and then when the senses were regained from the hard hit into the door, the falcon/hawk flew off with the woodpecker in it’s claws. Very strange event to see…
After some beautiful days like these we are back in a rainy pattern. Of course that is normal and we all need the rain along with the sunshine. California would love to have some of our rain drops…
Dear and I went on a little walk again about the neighborhood on Sunday last. I was cracking up when we passed this in the photo below…
Oops…the no dumping sign was dumped!
Confession of the week: I went to Costco on Tuesday and bought season 4 of Downton Abbey so very soon Katie and I will have a marathon viewing of the rest of the episodes we haven’t seen yet. Costco had the DVD for $25.99 with a one time $4.00 rebate at the register.
Hows your week progressing?
Poor woodpecker! I know, I know…the circle of life…but I would not have wanted to see it so up close and personal! Funny about the sign! Enjoy the show…guess I will see them one episode at a time! 🙂
First off… your weather looks like spring to me. And all those birds flying about, feeding, bumping into doors… while we’re having snow and more snow. And O, how I’ve refrained from getting those Downton DVD (BluRays). You’re most welcome to stop by the pond every week and throw in your 2 pebbles (which you do and I thank you!) but just don’t get ahead of me. 😉
Aww – pretty birds! I too have to admit I’ve clapped at a woodpecker when it started destroying our cedar shingles on the sides of our deck! The robin gives me hope of Spring to come. I can’t wait to get my hands on Season 4 and have been avoiding any spoilers.
Oh nature can be so savage. I love that poem by Robert Frost, but am thinking that the final two lines of it are your own words that WordPress smooshed together on you. The Season Four DVD has me all grins. Good price for an entire day of viewing!
yes, Vee, that final line was smooshed. I think I’ve fixed it now. 🙂
I am most definitely a bird lover, and only clap at hawks who try to dine on my chickens. ~smile~ Loved the poem but felt sad as I can’t imagine not wanting to hear beautiful songs from our birds.
I must be the only person in Blogland that hasn’t seen Downton Abbey, I must get these on DVD, as I have heard nothing but great reviews. Thanks for sharing.
Sue
Oh…. I will be looking for DA next time I go to Costco, but I am guessing they won’t have it in Canada.
I feel a bit like I am ‘flitting’ about this week…without a whole lot to show for it.
As for robins…aren’t they a wee bit early? I’m glad to see your bird feeder is full. I have been a little negligent in stocking ours, I’m afraid.
I love your little bird feeder which attracts so many birds.
Me? My week? Surviving. Flitting waaay to much.
How sweet are those birds. Maybe I’ll get a bird feeder outside a window to entertain the cats!
Yes, yes, please share your rain!!
I have watched season 4 twice now. We enjoy the costumes, the castle and characters.
