Nature Walks at the Aquarium

There were some nice nature walks and trails outside the Aquarium that we enjoyed.

We learned something new about Spanish Moss. Found it really interesting that it’s related to pineapple.

Got my shipping shopping done and the boxes are sent. This is the first year that I have to send Christmas gifts to some of our kids. I was so busy this morning that when I hit the road I realized I hadn’t made or had my morning coffee. I stopped at a Starbucks which isn’t ever part of my regular routine but the morning brew I got was very nice and sharpened me up a bit.

  1. Spanish moss and pineapple???? That sounds crazy! Starbuck’s is a good pick me up when I hit the city. I need to get wrapping!

  2. I do believe that is a kingfisher you photographed – yes? They are supposed to be difficult to capture with the lens…or so I’ve heard.

Who would have imagined “old man’s beard” is related to the pineapple! Fascinating.

    • Yes, Sara. It does look like a belted Kingfisher. I saw it in the distance and tried zooming way in to get the shot. Because of the brown in it’s markings I’m guessing it’s a female…

  3. I do miss seeing Spanish moss swaying on trees in the December fog. My years in the south created a love for a few thing…Spanish moss and pralines with my morning coffee. Sigh.

  4. It looks like you are getting things together…I love your travelling photos, but my heart always twitches when I see photos of you and Kate and that wonderful man of yours. You have savored some wonderful memories together..Princess Kate!
