Matryoshka Bridal Shower

On Saturday we had a Northwest Bridal Shower for Katie with a Matryoshka Theme.

The Bride Katie

Katie and Laura, sisters by marriage.

The color theme was purple, deep red, and gold.

I was so busy I forgot to take photos of all the other food. We had Savory Blintzes, a Quinoa taboulleh salad, orange-mango chicken salad, pumpkin praline trifle, and pumpkin spice cookies.

It was a fun reunion of friends who have touched Katie’s life over the years. Katie’s maid of honor, Jamie, led us in prayers for Andrew and Katie and she ended with a prayer of blessing on her friend. Such a wonderful dear time we had. Katie was showered with blessings and nice gifts. At the end of our evening the power went out so we rushed around lighting more candles. My sister Lana escorted all our guests to their cars with a flashlight!

I have to admit that I am wiped out today. We couldn’t clean up last night because we had no power so I went over to Lana’s this morning to gather my stuff and to help clean up. By the time I got there Lana had everything washed and ready to go so all I had to do was load up my car. Everything is put away in it’s place here at my house now and I’m just gonna sit around the rest of the day!

I’m linking up with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

  1. What a beautiful and meaningful shower. I loved the colors, the warmth of friendship shared, and the sound of the delicious food! Do you have your quinoa taboulleh recipe posted somewhere? I miss taboulleh (gf) but using quinoa instead of wheat would make a difference! Thank you for sharing with us! God bless Katie’s marriage!

  2. It all looked so wonderful. What a gift to have friends who share a life of faith with you. The food all sounded so good. Hope you find deep rest tonight as you sleep….renewal and strength to your body…I know you’ve had much joy with the shower.

  3. You have earned your rest, Ellen. Now you must get rested up for the next phase. The shower looked beautiful and your daughter so radiant. I love that her life and marriage were blessed in such a wonderful way. It must have been very moving.

  4. I am so happy for Katie. I feel like she is our girl too. .we’ve prayed for her and Andrew and wish them the Lord’s blessing on their marriage.
It is so wonderful to have all those that have loved her while she grew to be a beautiful baby to a young woman there to bless her.

  5. Beautiful…’our Katie’, the decor and the food. Like Lovella said…we, the MGCC gals, feel like we are extended family. We have been behind the scenes…praying for Katie and Andrew since the beginning of the their relationship. May God go with them every step of the way!

  6. This post tells me more about a shower of blessings in things money cannot buy! It’s evident that It’s not really about the gifts …but the loved ones who are supporting you in every stage of life. I can tell Katie is a very special girl. I too want to add my congratulations and wish Katie and Andrew a soon to be happy re-union and a lifetime of God’s blessings on them.

  7. This looks like such a wonderful event…and I’m so proud of you for organizing the shower…like you once said, “Forget the etiquette…why would you not organize a shower with family and friends and continue to bless her in her new life.
    This was a wonderful occasion.

  8. How totally fabulous was that?!!! The colors were so rich and the food….no kidding you are wiped out! What a spread for a very lucky bride. I’m sure the blessings that were given will be cherished for a lifetime. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

  9. What a beautiful shower with such a wonderful theme! I hope to host my daughter’s shower along with her Matron of Honor in a few months and I’m so excited and looking forward to it.

  10. One of a brides’s rights of passage – I’m so glad Katie had this time to reunite with friends and enjoy their celebration of her as a friend and a new bride. Love the Russian theme -not only fun but appropriate!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
