Gratitude is a very good thing. Every Friday we join Susanne at Living to Tell the Story in sharing 5 good things from our past week. Wow can you believe we are already saying goodbye to September?!
A good friend died this past Sunday. Why would I share that in my 5 good things? I’m so thankful to God that I got to know Kathy and that I learned so much from her struggles and her attitude. She knew she was going home and would be with her Savior. Her husband wrote a beautiful tribute to her on Kathy’s blog that you can read here.
As you can see from the photo above we have had some beautiful sunny days this week after some cloudy rainy days. It was nice to get out and enjoy the weather with my camera.
God worked out timing for me to be able to be part of a lot of important events in October including Kathy’s memorial service in Sacramento.
Completed projects around the house.
We decided instead of just me and Katie going to North Carolina to get her settled in base housing before Andrew returns from Afghanistan that Dear would travel with us, too. It will be great to have a man along with us while we get some basics set up for Andrew’s return.
October is as full as a pumpkin for me. How’s your October shaping up? Hope to come around soon and see what you are up to.

I don’t know how you pack so much into a week – and these are just the Fav Five! What an exciting time for your Katie! Tell her that curtains will make all the difference – never throw a curtain away! By the time we’d finished our military moving around I had quite a box of curtains of every size, but they made an immediate difference in warming all those quarters.
It still stuns me that Kathy lived through so many years with cancer. Happy dance that Katie is closer to being reunited with her guy! Rejoicing in the joy of Kathy’s face to face. Life moves forward in our families—- much to be thankful about! Hope you have some fun this weekend!

Thinking about your during this difficult time. What a beautiful tribute to your friend by her husband. Glad that your man can join you on this little excursion. Just like that, you are preparing for the homecoming of Andrew already. Kate must be estactic.

In Belgium summer moved in finally !! we have the highest temperatures since 1927 ! 29° (in the 80F) !

And you have big doings tomorrow, too, right? Sounds as if you are telling the truth with October happenings and I’m glad that your husband will be able to travel with you, too. This is going to be yet another adjustment passing your daughter off to her husband, but how wonderful that he is coming home soon.

Much as we dislike death, I have been greatly ministered to when God has taken other people through that time, and through funerals/memorial services also. So glad your friend knew the Lord and you were able to go to the memorial.
That will be so great to have your husband along for the move to NC.
It’s been lovely weather here in TN today — I think temps in the mid-60s are my favorite.
I very much need to complete some projects around the house. Kudos to you for getting them done!

Back from the tribute. Her blog is familiar to me. Must have come across her posts among the hymns. Read her About; no. 6 is so cute. What a lovely lady!
I’m so glad that God made a way for you to be at Kathy’s memorial service. She was an amazing example of God’s grace through hard stuff.
We had some amazing weather this last week too but it’s finally starting to look like fall around here. And how wonderful that your hubby can go with you to set Katie up in her home. That will be hard work but fun.
So sorry about your friend’s death. 😦 Always a hard thing. I look forward to the day when death is no more. Praying for you and her family.
I’m sorry for the loss of your friend, it’s so hard to be left behind. I’m glad you can be a part of her services. I’ve prayed and prayed for a cure to cancer. It’s good that your beautiful friend no longer suffers, and I’ll pray for her “cute boy” and all of you who loved her.
And on the other end of the emotional spectrum, it must be so exciting to be anticipating such a wonderful homecoming! How nice that your husband can join you!
What a blessing your friendship to and with Kathy must have been. Her blog is so encouraging (as is yours) and how neat that Kathy’s family and friends have this lasting legacy of her’s. I’m also glad you were able to attend the service here in Sacto (this is where I live).
I love “completed” projects around the house. I have some on my list that would improve the quality of my life, if I just up and did ’em! 🙂 Congrats in your discipline.
