Colossians 1: 15-20
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

There is so much meat in these verses from Colossians; so much on which to ponder. I love the way Paul began every sentence with the words “He is…” And He is everything.
He IS!
What a lovely selection. Thanks for sharing.

That in EVERYTHING He might be preeminent. That one is really striking me this morning. We MUST give all glory and acknowledgment to God as the Author of all. He uses people but our eyes should not be on them but what God is doing through them. Oh man, I’m on a soap box…just heard too much recently where God was just an assumed part of things.
Ellen, someone left a message on my blog today in the comments section…she’s having some trouble commenting to your site.
What a great passage full of “c” words! Speaks of His magnificance!!
Thanks for sharing!

Good morning Ellen B.,
Such a beautiful scripture. On my way in to work this morning I was listening to Alister Begg who was talking about the Lord and how we as His children need to keep Him as the center of our universe. How fitting this scripture is as He is the central of all things. He holds all things together…including His children.
Seattle…that sounds like fun, but what does “TMI” mean? Another thing I don’t know :).
Have a wonderfully blessed day!

I looked up the word preeminent so I could better grasp this verse. Having paramount rank, dignity, or importance : outstanding , supreme. Even this doesn’t begin to describe Christ’s standing. He is the first, the beginning and everything! Super powerful verse.
Yes – Thank God for the cross!
