Saturday Morning Fun!

We started our beach walk at 6:00 AM today! The sun has not shown up in all it’s glory yet…

The colors in my photos change as the sun comes up over the hill.

We saw a lot of crabs today. The tide was not as far out and we couldn’t get as far on the sand this week.

The Pirates were afoot and we snuck by their ship.

Dear braved the surf while I took the higher road.

“Here’s looking at ya”

We finished our walk on the beach and were home by 7:45 AM. I then got ready to head out to San Marino, California to meet my nieces, sister, and mom for a birthday breakfast.

On the way to breakfast a car fully engulfed in flames was worth a photo! :0)

I decided on the Earl Grey Tea. Look at that pretty little bag the tea leaves come in.

And yes it is hot in Southern California today. This was the hottest my outside temp registered when I hit Woodland Hills. (109 degrees)  Notice that I’m standing still in traffic so no one was in danger when I took this shot. We’re breaking records today. Thankfully it is a lot cooler than Woodland Hills in our town…

  1. What a fabulous day you’ve had! The beach walk looked so inviting (and I loved the changing colors) and your family photos were terrific. Looks like you had a perfect day, despite the HOT weather….. is 109 normal for May?

  2. The beach looks so inviting! I love the picture of the bird and his reflection in front of the surf. And the birthday breakfast besides the beach walk! Sounds like you had a wonderful day!

  3. Starting the day walking on the beach was very nice and then to top it off with a tasty breakfast with the people you love! What more could you ask for on a Saturday?!
109 is a little hot. The poor person with the car burning must have just given up and gone home!!
    Have a cool one tomorrow!

  4. Hi Ellen, Thanks for the info on the Rose Bowl. I was in Pasadena today. Do you think maybe we might have passed each other on the 210?
The photos of the beach are so beautiful. I used to live in San Diego and within 10 minutes (by bike) I could be down at the bay. How I miss mornings by the sea.

  5. Hi Ellen…I’m fairly new to your blog but have seen your replies to the same bloggy friends for ages…:)

Wonderful photos of some of the women in your family!

And we just took a trip all the way down the state of California last month…only it was on the cool side most of the time. In fact, when we went to Sea World it was downright chilly! But 109…that’s a little too hot! 😉 We’re having a heat wave now, too, but we are complaining that it’s 95!

  6. It was lovely to see your early morning beach shots – I love that time of the day, when you can pretend you own the beach.

    The birthday breakfast looked delicious.

And just too hot for me – at any time of the year. How hot will it get in the height of summer?

  7. I wish I knew about this place before my in laws moved last September. They used to live on the border between San Marino and Alhambra. It looks like a wonderful celebration. We had the heat here too!

  8. We both started out in a cool place at least. When we first arrived at 11am it was still a bit overcast. Which suited me just fine.

Despite the heat you had to visit, it looks like you had a lovely time. I think the weather should just stop breaking records with the temps and go back to normal!

    Have a wonderful week, Ellen.
