California here I come, right back where I started from.
Where bowers of flowers bloom in the sun.
Each morning at dawning birdies sing and everything.
Sun kissed Miss says don’t be late.
That’s why I can hardly wait, Open up your golden gate, California here I come.
I was born in California so this is a song I easily claim. I’m happy for my growing up days and my early married days in California but I’m very content to be living in the Seattle area now. I do look forward to my trips back to visit. The top photo is from the plane on our descent into John Wayne Airport. We turned inland at Catalina Island and this is the first time I’ve seen it so clearly from a plane. The beach photos are all from Huntington Beach where one of my sister’s lives.
It’s time for ABC Wednesday and we are on the letter C so I’m sharing some photos from my trip to Southern California last week and a photo of the bougainvillea from my archives. Thank you to Denise Nesbitt and the ABC Wednesday team.
Thanks for the beautiful C post!
Wil, ABCW Team.
beeing Dutch i don’t know it firsthand but i can imagine what you’re feeling.
I did most of my growing up in So. Cal….I could use trip down to the sunny beaches and bowers of flowers just about now. Love your Catalina from the air photo.
I am green with envy at the thoughts of sunshine and California weather as I crouch around in the midst of a foggy day.
Have a wonderful time! Our son was born in Long Beach at the Navy Hospital, which is no more I hear. We lived the first half of my married life traveling up and down the coast of California, back in our navy days. I look forward to the day we can go back for a visit, especially after seeing these wonderful photos.
cold and snowy here!

You showed a part of why California is very attractive to visitors.
My ABC WEDNESDAY
Love the photos, especially the bougainvillea!
There’s something special about going home, even if you are happy where you now live. For me, it’s Florida that is home.
It’s always good to make a trip home, isn’t it? Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.
I am from Holland but lived about 3 decades in California (half a year in North, but the rest in South – there is no better place than this, to live! Have fun and enjoy your time here!
I’ve only been to California a couple times, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice topic!
What a lovely post and pictures too,,,, California Dreaming…oh how I would love to be there, Instead we have to endure grey skies, gale force winds and sleety rain battering the windows.
The only consolation is my warm log fire and mug of hot chocolate!
Roll on spring!
Enjoy your holiday dear ‘Happy Wanderer’, and I look forward to reading the next instalment,
Until then,
Best wishes,
Di.

My cousins stay in California. Yet to visit it though…
Have a great week!
California is a beautiful State, we have travelled through it 2 times !
What a beautiful entryway to the Adobe. LOVE the ocean photo too!
Might be warm and sunny here but I guess it is cold in Seattle right now. A good time to take a trip south.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you and have a walk. I’m glad you had great family time! It’s sunny but cool here today.
Very cool post!

Love California…I’d like to to visit more often♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/kinds-of-black-and-white/
I imagine that was a wonderful place to grow up in, looks lovely. . Its hail and sleet here so I’m looking forward to being sun kissed without the howling north wind..
So many iconic scenes. Glad you could visit your old stomping grounds! Oh, by the way, some of my German international students are returning to the area for a few weeks and wondered where would be a good place to rent for two weeks in Huntington Beach area. Any advice from your sister who lives there?
