Truth for Today #202

Friday September 4th

On Fridays my posts will include verses that stood out in my readings from the Bible during the week. One, two, three or maybe more. If you have a verse/verses that you read during the week and would like to share, leave it/them in the comments and I will add it/them to the post. Let’s continue to dig deep into God’s truth.

The verses that you share are appreciated and so encouraging, I’m thankful for them and for each of you.

News: Starting with Friday September 11th I will not be posting Truth for Today until after October 9th. There are events that are taking me away from my usual computer on those days over this time period. Lord willing, Truth for Today will be back in mid October.

Psalm 24:7-10

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.

From Nikkipolani:

Isaiah 6:1-3

In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim were standing above Him, each having six wings: with two each covered his face, and with two each covered his feet, and with two each flew. And one called out to another and said,

“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of armies.
The whole earth is full of His glory.”

From Vera:

Psalm‬ ‭148‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.” ‭‭

From Leonard:

John 6:35, 68-69

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

From Karen:

I Corinthians 1:18

For the teaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

April Bible Verse Challenge ~ Jesus said…

Three more Thursdays in this challenge counting today. Add your verse/verses in the comments and I’ll add them below.

John 10:27-30

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

From Patricia:

Luke 4:23-27 (KJV)

And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

From Vera:

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:12-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From HappyOne:

John 6:35 –

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

From Maristella:

” When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12

Truth from A to Z ~ I is for…

For the first Thursday in November we are on the letter I in our Bible Verse Challenge. I’m going to go with several “I ams” that are found throughout the Bible that God declares about Himself.

I is for I AM

Exodus 3:14: “I am who I am.”

Isaiah 41:13: “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Isaiah 45:18: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

Matthew 28:20: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

John 6:35: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

John 8:12: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 10:11: I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 11:25-26: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

From Tom: Another I Am:

Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’

From Cheryl:

My verses today are two similar questions:
“Is anything too hard for the LORD?” Genesis 18:14
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27

From Maristella:

“Better a little with righteousness
than much gain with *injustice*.”
Proverbs 16:8
And
“The *integrity* of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
Proverbs 11:3

From Vera: I is for Immortal, Invisible

“To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Add your verse/verses for the letter I in the comments or on your blog and I will add them to this post. Happy Hunting!

I want to give you a heads up that we will not have our Bible Verse Challenge on the Thursday that Thanksgiving lands on this year, November 26th. We’ll resume the following Thursday, December 3rd.

Bread & Low Tide Adventures

August 21st brings us to the word Bread.

Deuteronomy 8:3:

And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

From Patsystitch:

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

From Maristella:

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
Luke 22:19 | NIV

From Happy One:

Luke 4:3 & 4 KJV

And the devil said unto him,
If thou be the Son of God,
command this stone that it be made BREAD

And Jesus answered him saying, It is written
That man shall not live by BREAD alone,
but by every word of God.

Remember to leave the verse/verses you pick in the comments and I’ll add them here. Thank you.

Our kids had a shore day exploring low tide.

Our grands and our son’s best friend’s kiddos.

I managed to mow all our acreage yesterday. It was a cooler day which made that an easier chore. Dear finished painting our back deck. It looks so much better. Have a great Friday everyone!
