A Little While! Our Lord Shall Come ~ Hymn

The word for today is Little and since this is Sunday I’m sharing this Hymn. If you have a verse to share please add it in the comments and I’ll copy it on this post. Thank you!

A Little While! Our Lord Shall Come

A little while! our Lord shall come,
And we shall wander here no more;
He’ll take us to our Father’s home,
Where He for us has gone before,
To dwell with Him, to see His face,
And sing the glories of His grace.

A little while! He’ll come again;
Let us the precious hours redeem;
Our only grief to give Him pain,
Our joy to serve and follow Him;
Watching and ready may we be,
As those who long their Lord to see.

A little while! ’twill soon be past;
Why should we shun the shame and cross?
O let us in His footsteps haste,
Counting for Him all else but loss;
O how will recompense His smile
The sufferings of this little while!

A little while! come, Savior, come!
For Thee Thy bride has tarried long;
Take Thy poor wearied pilgrims home,
To sing the new eternal song,
To see Thy glory and to be
In everything conformed to Thee!

Words: James G. Deck, 1841.

From Maristella: Thank you Maristella for the hymn from your childhood and the Proverb!

Hi! I would like to share a hymn of my childhood…”Sabe,Senhor, o que temos é tão pouco pra dar, mas este pouco nós queremos com os irmãos compartilhar…” Something like this: You know my Lord, We have too little to give, but we want to share this little with our brothers in Christ…” ” Better a little with the fear of the Lord
than great wealth with turmoil.”
Proverbs 15:16 | NIV.

From Happy One at Life is Good:

Isiah 11:6 KJV

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a LITTLE child shall lead them.

Looking Up!

Here we are at the 15th of August and our word for the challenge is Train. You can also choose training or trained.

2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV):

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

From Barbara at Sweet Tea and Sandals:

Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

From Maristella:

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4 | NIV. ”

From Happy One at Life is Good:

I King 10:2 KJV
The she in the verse is the Queen of Sheba.

And she came to Jerusalem with a very great TRAIN,
with camels that bare spices,
and very much gold, and precious stones:
and when she was come to Solomon,
she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

If you have a verse to share please do in the comments and I’ll add it here. Thank you in advance.

Shop Progress:

I took these photos yesterday from our neighbors property looking across and up to where Dear is working on the roof of the shop. He only has 3 more panels to go to finish up the metal part of the roof. Once our son gets back from the “Coast” they’ll hoist up the last three and get them fastened. This is the most time consuming, tedious and difficult part of the project.

Our furry four pawed friend is arriving this morning for our keeping. I’ll probably have some photos to share this coming week. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Lost and Found

Today’s prompt is the word Lost for August 14th.

Psalm 119:175-176 (NASB)

Let my soul live that it may praise You,
And let Your ordinances help me.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant,
For I do not forget Your commandments.

From Maristella:

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Luke 19:10 | NIV.

From Happy One at Life is Good.

Matthew 18:11 KJV

For the Son of man is come to save that which was LOST.

If you have a verse share it in the comments or on your blog I will add it here. Thank you in advance.

This stained glass window is in St. Michael and All Angels Church in the Cotswolds village of Broadway. Click on the name to see more from the church when we visited in July of 2014.

Do you have anything on for the weekend? We are going to be dog sitting for our kids from Saturday until a week from Sunday. That will be something new for us. It will be something new for Rayna, too. Hope she isn’t too distressed.

Mercy

Today is August 13th the our Bible Verse Prompt is Mercy. Where would we be without God’s mercy?

1 Peter 1:3-5 (ESV)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

From Maristella:

 “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:13 | NIV.

From Patsystitch:

Lamentations 3:22 God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake that you’ve made. His mercy is new every morning.

From Happy One at Life is Good:

Psalm 86:5 KJV

For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive;
and plenteous in MERCY unto all them that call upon thee.

From Cheryl:

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

If you have a verse to share please share it in the comments or on your blog and I will copy it and include it here.

Man and the August Bible Verse Challenge

Today is Wednesday August 12th and I’m publishing my August Bible Verse Challenge with Wednesday Hodgepodge below it. The word for today is Man.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
If you have chosen a verse to share for the theme of man please leave it in the comments and I’ll add it here. Thank you ahead of time!
~
From Jerrelea:

When I think about man, I remember he is an image-bearer:

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

~

From Maristella:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24 | NIV.

From Happy One posted on her blog, Life is Good.

Genesis 2:7  KJV

And the Lord God formed MAN of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and MAN became a living soul.

***My Wednesday Hodgpepodge is the next post down from this one.

Glory

Glory is the word for the 11th of August.

I’ll need to share this whole rich paragraph from Colossians with glory being the last word.

Colossians 3:1-4

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Share your verses in the comments or on your blog and I’ll add them here.

From Maristella:

 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Romans 5:3-4 | NIV.

From Linda P. :

Glory: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”. Amen. Philippians 2. 10-11

From my sister Vera:

“Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭24:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From Pattystitch:

Galatians 6:14 God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy One posted this verse on her blog, Life is Good.

John 11:40  KJV

Jesus saith unto her,
Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe,
thou shouldest see the GLORY of God?

On Sunday we attended a birthday party for our grands’ other granny, Linda. We were greeted with a very excited little 3 year old who wanted to…

…sell us some lemonade or Iced Tea from her stand. 5 cents per cup, what a bargain. She was hilarious and very careful when she poured for each person. She filled Granny Great’s cup half full and Granny said “Is that all I get?” and Addy responded, “that’s enough”. It worked out financially for Addy that most of the adults did not have any loose change so she got a $5 bill and several $1 bills.

You should never leave your stand unattended especially when you have a baby brother!

We had a delicious dinner on the deck.

Linda is on the left with the cup up to her mouth. Happy Birthday Linda! Her friend Jo is next to her. Granny Great and Great Grandpa Jim, Aunt Rhonda, and Uncle Scott with Dan and Addy way in the back.

Jamie and Gramps got into this photo.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Heaven

August 10th and the Bible Verse prompt is Heaven. It is so hard to narrow it down to one verse, there are so many encouraging ones!

I’ll choose this section of scripture from Colossians 1: 15-20 on the Preeminence of Christ with heaven mentioned twice:

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Feel free to share your verses about heaven in the comments or on your blog. I’ll add them here. Thank you ahead of time.

From my sister Vera:

You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. Nehemiah 9:6

From Patsystitch:

Genesis 15:5
And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “so shall your offspring be”

From Maristella:

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14 | NIV

From Happy One:

Matthew 24:35-36 KJV

HEAVEN and earth shall pass away,
but my words shall not pass away.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man,
no, not the angels of HEAVEN,
but my Father only.

Back to our Country Bungalow. We had our Colville kids over for dinner on Saturday and the kids had fun climbing our mountains of dirt and riding in our new dump cart.

Addy scaled both mountains of dirt and had to scoot on her bum to get back down.

Jaymison enjoyed picking up rocks, the larger the better. So pleased our kids are not fussy about their kids playing in dirt!

Jaymison was a little hesitant when he first sat in the dump wagon but soon was enjoying the ride with some “vroom vroom” noises and giggles!

Happy Monday to you all.

It Is Well With My Soul ~ Hymn (River)

Today is the 9th of August and it falls on a Sunday. Posting hymns on Sunday has been something I look forward to. Since the word for today in our August Bible Verse Challenge is river I found a great hymn with the word river in it. I could have picked Frances Havergal’s, Like A River Glorious, which is one of my favorites to sing, but this is the hymn for this day.

I’ll also add a verse at the end of the post.

It Is Well with My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought—
My sin—not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so—it is well with my soul.

Words: Horatio G. Spafford

Psalm 46:4-5 (ESV)

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

Share a verse for the challenge in the comments or on your blog and I’ll post them here. Thank you and God bless your Sunday with peace like a river.

Here’s a verse from my sister Vera:

“Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭98:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From Patsystitch:

Revelation 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

From Maristella:

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”John 7:38.NIV.

From Happy One:

Isaiah 43:2 KJV

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee;
and through the RIVERS, they shall not overflow thee:
when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Day 8 ~ False

Today is the 8th of August and the word for today is False.

If you have a verse to share add it to the comments or on your blog. Thank you to all for sharing verses here.

Proverbs 19:5 (ESV)

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.

Patsystitch shared this verse which is part of the Ten Commandments:

Exodus 20:16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

My sister Vera added this verse from 2 Peter:

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Maristella has another verse to share:

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” Matthew 7:15.

Happy One posted this verse, too, on her blog Life is Good in the King James Version.

Matthew 7:15 KJV

Beware of FALSE prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

We are having some very lovely summer temps right now. It was 75 degrees on Friday and we will only climb up into the 80’s over the next several days. Ahh…

August Bible Verse Challenge ~ Evil

Todays word is evil.

Psalm 141: 3-4

Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!

Let me know if you share a verse for this day on your blog. You can also share a verse in comments and I’ll add it to this post. Thank you to all who have shared verses already.

From my sister, Vera:

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From Patsystitch:

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For you are with me, your rod and your staff the comfort me.

Happy One shared this verse on her blog, click over to see her post.

Matthew 5:11 KJV

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you,
and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of EVIL against you falsely,
for my sake.

Maristella shared this good reminder:

1 Peter 3:9 -” Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”

Maybe I’ll memorize the verse from Psalms and recite it in my head when I have to wear a mask.

This is one of my new linen masks all the way from Russia.
