Tablescape Thursday ~ Blue-Green

It’s time again to see lots of fun tables around the bloggy world. Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is our hostess for this weekly event.

I’m in Seattle this week with my table set right now for dinner. My kids are all going to be here for a sit down meal. This table I’m showing you is not tonight’s but one from my Condo in Southern California. I’ll try to add some descriptions tomorrow, but right now I’ve got to run get dinner on the table. Happy almost Thursday everyone…

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ Kirkland & Woodinville

My Outdoor Photos this week were taken in Washington while I’m here for a week. We’ve had some great sun breaks between rain showers and I’ve been enjoying the interesting clouds.

This was taken in Kirkland, Washington on Tuesday looking across Lake Washington towards downtown Seattle. The water on the lake was like glass and I was amazed at all the reflection on the water.

Looking back to the shore with the trees reflected in the water.

When I was done in Kirkland I headed to Woodinville to Ste Michelle Winery.

The winery is a beautiful place to stroll any time of the year.

Three or More ~ Russian Lacquer Boxes

Today for Three or More Tuesday I’m showing my Russian Lacquer Boxes. My heritage is Russian and I’ve always loved these boxes.

Dear bought me this first lacquer box for an anniversary of ours in the 70’s.

My parents brought us this one from one of their trips to Russia.

This last one was purchased at Goodwill.

Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner is the hostess for Three or More so if you’d like to join in head on over and sign in on Mr. Linky.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Out and About ~

Out and about on a cloudy day in the Northwest. The sun was out amongst the clouds and it warmed up nicely today. I got some running around done. Whole bean Costco roasted coffee for here and the South, check. New tennies for walking from the Brooks Outlet in Canyon Park, check. Brooks adrenaline are the shoes that have worked best for me and having an outlet here where I can buy them for less is fabulous. Some new 501 jeans for Dear from Fred Meyer on sale, check.

My kids are here this evening playing Rock Band. It’s fun to see them still playing nicely together. :0)

Blessings and night night!

Blue Monday ~ Travels

It’s almost Monday and time to post something for Smiling Sally’s Blue Monday. This week Blue Monday for me is all about travels and nostalgia.

Early Saturday morning I traveled from Los Angeles to Seattle on Alaska Airlines. Alaska Airlines is my favorite airlines to fly. We flew out of LAX over the Blue Pacific Ocean and could see the coastline with the Santa Monica Mountains as a backdrop. I upgraded to first-class and had a whole big row to myself with a window seat. Breakfast was delish with a Mimosa just because. I’m on a 40 day Journey focusing on my life with Jesus in this season of Lent looking forward to our Easter celebration. I had nice quiet time on the plane since my row was empty. I’m also reading a book by L.M. Montgomery called A Tangled Web. I’m really enjoying reading more of L.M. Montgomery after finally reading Anne of Green Gables. Soon I could see the Seattle area with the Cascade Mountain Range in the background. I was happy to be “Home” and seeing the Maple Tree out my kitchen window is always a treat especially when the blue sky peaks out from around the clouds.

I tend to get a little nostalgic when I get to come “home”. This is a photo from my senior year in 1968. We had Friday Night Cheer Squad dinners at different homes every Friday. This was at my parent’s home in Montebello. My high school colors were blue and gold. The Song Leaders have the blue sweaters on and the Flag Twirlers have the gold sweaters on. I was a Song Leader. We helped lead cheers with pom poms.

Metamorphosis Monday ~ My Pear Tree

For my Met Monday this week I am at my home in the state of Washington. Usually I’m at my condo in Southern California. My before and after project was completed today during a short period of time while the rain was not falling here. I’m not a gardener by any means but my Pear Tree really was in need of a pruning. All I know about pruning a tree is that branches that grow straight up are the ones to go after. (I sure hope that’s true). So here is my pear tree with all those unsightly branches that are growing straight up…

I got the trusty pruning tools out of the garage and started to work all by myself…

Here is the result after about an hour and a half. And this next collage shows the before and after from the same angle.

I hope I didn’t kill it. Time will tell.

Leaving on A Jet Plane…

But I know I’m coming back to Southern California a week from Sunday!

My plane leaves early Saturday morning from LAX to SeaTac airport. I’m looking forward to some face to face time with my kids. I also get to take care of some yearly obligations with my doctor and the tax man. Thank goodness my favorite hairdresser was able to fit me in and I’ll finally get the cut and color I so desperately need. Now if I could only get a massage from Rebecca I’d be in hog heaven for sure. I don’t know what will happen with my computer time so if you don’t see me around you’ll know why. Have a great weekend everyone…

Happy Birthday to my sister Vera. She was born on LeapYear but we celebrate her birthday every non-leap year on the 28th of February.

Friday’s Fave Five

Welcome to Friday’s Fave Five hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story.

1. On Saturday Dear and I opted for a hike instead of a beach walk because of high tides. We drove to Sycamore Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains to hike up to Scenic Point. On the way we stopped on Pacific Coast Highway to watch some Dolphins swimming and breaching the surface of the water. So cool. This hike really gets our hearts pumping and it’s good for us.

2. The skies have been less than boring this past week in Southern California. I always love to see cloud formations and I was rewarded this week with fun skies.

3. I added the photo of the path from our hike to single out another favorite this week. Our church, Bible Studies, Small Groups are all on a 40 day journey together that we started on Ash Wednesday. We are setting aside 15 minutes a day for 6 days a week to reflect on what it means to follow Jesus. It has been a blessing already. Dear and I are hosting a small group every Sunday where we discuss what we’ve learned and encourage each other to continue our journey with Jesus.

4. So I was brave enough to show a photo of me working out on the Bowflex. I have a love/hate relationship with exercise but I always feel so much better when I put in the effort.

5. You have to look really really close and even with my prompt you might not see the sweet Hummingbird that Willow and I saw on our walk yesterday. So what does that have to do with favorites? My favorite thing any week is seeing and appreciating what God has created for us to enjoy. When I’m out walking or hiking I love that God has opened my eyes to appreciate His wonderful creation.

Oh and next Friday…my favorites are going to be all about the great Northwest because I travel to Seattle on Saturday to spend a week with my kiddos!

Click on over to Susanne’s to see or join in on posting your favorites from the week.
