California Signs

Dear and I lived in California from 2006 until 2010. These are some signs from our day and weekend trips while living there.

This was our go to Mexican restaurant in Camarillo, California.

Between Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez we stopped at the Cold Spring Tavern for breakfast. I got a kick out this sign.

I saw this sign in San Francisco.

This sign was from Willow and my weekly walks in her neighborhood.

Most Saturday mornings we’d arrive at this beach and have our beach walk. We miss our walks here.

All of our children were born in California and this week we will be celebrating our oldest with a dinner together on Saturday. Our second born son will be celebrating this week with his fiance who has a birthday this week, too, in Eastern Washington. Our January is full. I’ll be traveling next week to California to celebrate our niece Hope’s 7th birthday and one of my brother’s birthdays. I’ll share photos from all the fun times we manage to enjoy! Is January full or quiet for you?

Signs, Signs…

A few years ago my first born son and I traveled to New Mexico to spend some time with my second born son. It was fun to see these great signs around the little town.

Three of these signs were taken at the Chaos Cafe in Artesia, New Mexico. If you are ever driving through town we recommend breakfast here. (I hope it is still in business!)

On the window of a coffee/espresso shop in downtown Artesia.

On our way North out of Artesia we drove through Roswell and these were the street lamps that lined the main thoroughfare!

Are you familiar with Roswell?

The Roswell UFO Incident was the alleged recovery of extra-terrestrial debris, including alien corpses, from an object which crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, on or about July 8, 1947. Since the late 1970s the incident has been the subject of intense controversy and the subject of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object which crashed. The United States military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named “Mogul”; however, many UFO proponents maintain that in fact a crashed alien craft and bodies were recovered, and that the military then engaged in a cover-up.

The incident has turned into a widely known pop culture phenomenon, making the name Roswell synonymous with UFOs. It ranks as one of the most publicized and controversial UFO incidents ever.

Signs of My Times…

My times these days are filled with a variety of activities that I will share with the following signs.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I show up at the Northshore Senior Center at 9:30 and exercise away with some great seniors who are determined to keep moving. This is something new that I just started in September and it really has been good for me. One of the gentlemen that comes to the class is 93!

I’ve been trying to use the library more and buying less books and DVD’s for our viewing and reading pleasure. This is my library of choice and just today I picked up a Doc Martin DVD to enjoy.

Our church that we’ve been attending for about 3 years now just changed it’s name to Northshore Community Church instead of Northshore Baptist Church. It was a good time for the change since one of the goals of our church is to support and help our community.

I shop at a variety of stores like Costco, Fred Meyer and a local fruit market but Safeway is probably the most convenient place for me to shop and I’m here at least once a week.

I am very proud of our son-in-law and his service in the Marines but this sign on my car also works real well in helping me find my car in a big parking lot with lots of cars that look just like mine.

On this past Monday night we were at the Sounders soccer game against F.C. Dallas and I’m happy to report we are moving on in the playoffs and have two more games in November against L.A. Galaxy. We were all given these signs to hold up after the National Anthem. Fun times.

One of my favorite things at our Sounder games is the singing of our National Anthem. Our Seattle crowd really belts it out and we have a great military branch presence that holds the flag while we sing.

Hope you didn’t get bored seeing the signs of my times. In the future I might post some more that involve my history.

We are experiencing a cold snap here in the Pacific Northwest and today I talked with our son and he had snow at his place in Eastern Washington. The leaves continue to fall and I continue to rake. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
