Window Views

Well Mary the Professor has come up with another fun weekly photo challenge meme. Here’s what she says…

“I’ve always been fascinated by all kinds of windows. And photographing them from the outside or the inside has been fun for me. Will you join me?”

You can post:

house windows,
castle windows,
stained glass windows,
old windows,
new windows,
animals or people looking out of windows,
views through windows

Here are the rules:

Post your own photographs
Describe your photographs and the circumstances of taking your pictures if you want to
You may post as early as Wednesday at 4 o’clock EST (that’s when I will post)

Have fun!

These shots were taken in Ventura, California. This used to be a church and then it was a Wedding Chapel and then a Bed and Breakfast. It was for sale when I took these photos.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ “To Market, to Market”

I’m a little late in joining in for Outdoor Wednesday this week hosted by Susan at A Southern Day Dreamer but better late than never.

To market, to market to buy a fat pig;
Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog;
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog.

Dear and I decided to walk to the Farmer’s Market that our hometown has every Saturday in Old Town Camarillo from 8:00 to Noon. As we set out we passed these tumbleweeds that are taking over the sidewalk. What a fun sight to see tumbleweeds tumbling through town when they dry up and the wind blows. Brings back some childhood memories for me.

It was a drizzly morning. The drizzle does not deter Dear and I from walking because of our years in the Seattle area. We do everything in the rain up there and most of the time without an umbrella!

A rare thing to see raindrops on the vegetation in Southern California.

Our walk to the Market is convoluted because we are separated from the main part of town by the railroad tracks that run up the coast of California. We have to jog and go over an overpass built for people to get to the train station. Here’s Dear sporting his new Tilley hat!

See the church across the freeway? That’s where we are headed.

We make it to Ventura Blvd. which is the main street through Old Town Camarillo.

Great timing as we approach the market.

We’re hoping to find some red and white flowers for the dinner we’re having for my brother’s birthday later on this day.

Success! On the way back I had to snap these shots of St. Mary Magdalen Church. A landmark in Camarillo which was built by the Camarillo Family.

The sun is getting brighter as we approach home. The Santa Monica Mountains are camaflouged today by these great clouds.

Just enough sun for Dear to spot this great spider web on the tumbleweed we pass on the way home!

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

Three or More Thursday

Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner is the hostess for Three or More Thursday and I’m joining in for the first time this week.

Our two daughters (DIL Laura, and Katie) with my mother, their grandmother.

Our two sons with my father, their grandfather.

This is my first entry for Three or More Thursday hosted by Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007 to 2015 hostage and has replaced them all with ugly black and grey boxes asking for a ransom to have them re-published. Such a frustrating bother as I go through each post to delete the ugly boxes.

Show Me Something Relaxing…

Robert from Thoughts of a Father has a photo challenge this week with something different every day. Today the challenge is to show something that relaxes you. This is my first contribution and I thought that this represents some relaxation waiting to happen…

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I posted on my blog from 2007-2015 hostage and replaced them with big black and grey boxes with threats. So discouraging…as I’m slowly trying to clean up thousands of posts!

Bridging the Gap ~ Day Two

This bridge is in the city of Bothell, Washington. It connects the Sammamish River trail across the Sammamish River to Bothell Landing. Bothell Landing is home to  several historical buildings and is a city site for celebrations and concerts in the summer.

When my kids were little we lived on a hill above this area and we’d hike down to Bothell landing with family and friends for fun. We’ve moved away from this area but it still holds good memories.

When I’m in Washington 2 of my walking buddies and I walk the Sammamish River Trail and the Burke Gilman Trail for 6 miles. We stop short of this bridge.

This is a picture of me, ellen b., on this bridge on Blake Lewis Day in Bothell May of 2007. Blake was one of the final two on American Idol that year. He was about to give a concert at Bothell landing to honor his hometown.

Bridging The Gap ~ Photo Challenge

Alice from Iwasborn2cree8 is hosting this challenge. Here’s what she says ~

“This Photo Challenge is BRIDGING THE GAP. The idea is to post photos you’ve taken, or you are in, showing a bridge. Tell us something about the bridge, and/or what was happening when you took the photo. Of course, link back here, and leave a message, so we can all come have a look at what you’ve left for us.”

Here’s my first entry…

This is the bridge you cross traveling South on Interstate 5 from the State of Washington to the State of Oregon. More specifically from Vancouver, Wa. to Portland, Oregon. My husband and I travelled from Seattle to the Los Angeles area a couple Saturdays ago. This bridge crosses the Columbia River. This crossing comes about 3 hours into our 17 hour journey :0)
