We have had some beautiful days which are so appreciated after all our smoke filled skies lately.
The following photos were taken on our way to church Sunday the 30th of August. Our drive is just over 6 miles to church. All these views are from the first 3 miles of our drive. They are also the views out the passenger window so to the west and a little north.
Today is Labor Day in the states and in Canada.
Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.
And most often what we end up doing on Labor day is labor about the house or yard. I’ve managed to clean up our front planters over this weekend which is a good accomplishment for me.
Remember to put your white shoes away. Does anyone still do that?

We were talking about the “put your white shoes and white pants away” rule last night! It is still about 100 degrees here in Alabama with a heat index of about 110. I laughingly said that the rule should be, “as long as it is over 90 degrees, you can wear whatever you want.” Your photos are gorgeous!!
White shoes, white pants, white sweaters. I always used to pack them away. Now, apparently, there are no such rules. But I still feel funny wearing white after labor day. Isn’t that silly?

Happy Labor Day! When I lived in Brooklyn I could walk to church, now it is a four mile drive from where we live in a suburb. I sometimes watch mass on Zoom from my old parish in Brooklyn instead as I always like dour pastor.
We definitely grew up putting up white clothing after Labor Day. I wore my white sandals to church Sunday. Loved your Sunday drive photos – the skies and fields are so pretty to see! We are getting a lot of little chores done around the house this weekend too. Yes, laboring on Labor Day, lol! Blessings to you!

I remember my mom telling me when she was growing up in Ohio, that was the rule. No never did that as I grew up in California.
Labor day just seems to come and go. I have no connection to the day other than, it marks the end of summer. I just wish summer knew that!
