Good Things

I started another thrift store puzzle and it’s a tough one.

I’m making slow but good progress.

Josh and Laura surprised me with this puzzle in the mail. They chose this one because our VBS theme this year was centered around Psalm 23. I’m looking forward to starting it soon. Thank you, Laura and Josh for your thoughtfulness!

On Thursday Addy and JJ were over in the afternoon so we made Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies with walnuts. They are at an age where all I have to do is watch while they mix and load the cookie sheets. They are experienced in the kitchen. We threw caution to the wind and enjoyed a little cookie dough, too.

The big news is that the skies were not smoky on Thursday because of our rain. That meant that soccer games were not cancelled and we could finally watch Addy and JJ play soccer. There games were on adjoining fields. It was a cool evening on the soccer fields.

The skies continue to be glorious and the air is good to breath. We are over the top grateful. It is exhilarating to say the least to have our clear skies again.

Have a great Saturday!

  1. The puzzle looks very nice. Yum on the cookies. Hooray for being able to watch them play soccer. Enjoy your weekend.

  2. That Psalm 23 puzzle from Josh and Laura is such a sweet and thoughtful surprise, especially with how your VBS season went! There is seriously nothing better than watching the grandkids take over the kitchen to bake cookies, and sneaking a little raw dough is practically a mandatory part of the tradition. Most of all, I’m so happy those skies finally cleared up so you could get out to the fields and watch Addy and JJ play soccer in the fresh air instead of dealing with all that awful smoke. http://www.melodyjacob.com

  3. Ellen, what a lovely collection of good things! That Psalm 23 puzzle was such a thoughtful gift from Josh and Laura, especially with the connection to your VBS theme. I hope you enjoy putting that one together, even if it proves to be another fiendishly difficult puzzle!

And those cookies sound absolutely delicious. There is something special about having the grandchildren in the kitchen, especially when they have reached the age where Grandma can sit back and supervise while they do the hard work! And I think a little cookie dough is definitely allowed.

Most of all, I’m so glad to hear that the rain has finally cleared the smoke and brought those beautiful skies back. After everything you’ve been dealing with, being able to sit outside and watch Addy and JJ play soccer must have felt like such a blessing.

So many simple but precious reminders that there really are good things to be thankful for Ellen, and enjoy those clear skies! God bless you, my friend. 😀

I read all comments and appreciate them.
