Truth for Today #199

Friday August 14th

On Fridays my posts will include verses that stood out in my readings from the Bible during the week. One, two, three or maybe more. If you have a verse/verses that you read during the week and would like to share, leave it/them in the comments and I will add it/them to the post. Let’s continue to dig deep into God’s truth.

Psalm 9:1-2

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

Isaiah 45:8 (ESV)

“Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
let the earth cause them both to sprout;
I the Lord have created it.”

  4. Ellen, what a beautiful collection of Scripture for this week’s Truth for Today. Psalm 9:1-2 particularly speaks to me: giving thanks to the Lord with our whole heart and remembering all the wonderful things He has done. It’s so easy to focus on what is happening around us and forget just how much we have to praise Him for.

    And Psalm 148 is such a wonderful reminder that all of creation points back to its Creator. The heavens, the angels, the sun, moon and stars all declare His glory. It makes me think of how there is always a reason to worship, even in the ordinary moments of our day.

    As a musician in the Worship team, I love the reminder that our praise isn’t simply something we sing in church. Our whole lives can become an offering of worship to God.
