1. What’s something you enjoy now that your younger self would never have appreciated?
Being able to climb into bed earlier in the evening, calling it a day before 9pm.
2. What was peaceful about today?
There is nothing on the calendar or to do list for today and we had already planned on eating out today so we’ll enjoy what the day brings and then being served a meal.
3. It’s National Blueberry Day (July 8). Will you celebrate? You can have one of the following right now-a slice of blueberry pie, a warm blueberry muffin, or a stack of blueberry pancakes…which do you choose?
I do have fresh blueberries in the refrigerator. Time will tell if I manage to bake some blueberry muffins on this very hot day.

4. Do you need a break? From what?
I don’t need a break from anything but I could use some help in trying to get on top of our weeds.
5. What has surprised you most about getting older?
So much…
How hard it is to roll over in bed these days
How hard it is to get up off the floor
How quickly the wrinkles are forming
How hard it is to lose weight.
Now some positive surprises…
The wonderful freedom of travel.
How we can survive on one meal a day.
Good medical care w/o paying a fortune.
Cell phones and the internet and GPS!

Our sons were able to attend the USA v Belgium game on Monday in Seattle. Even though the game was not the best that the US has played it was amazing for them to enjoy the World Cup Excitement together. One of the highlights of their day was getting Alexi Lalas’s attention so he could see a photo of the three of them from the 1994 World Cup and then for him to take a 2026 photo with them!

It was a wonderful treat for the two of them to spend this time together at this international event in their own backyard!
I’ll still be watching every game until the end to see who wins World Cup in 2026!

How cool about the game! Yes, not the outcome we wanted but how awesome for them to be there and get the pictures that they did! The photo with them and Alexi is so cool! What a great experience!! Love the pictures of you and your husband. What a blessing to have someone by your side as the years roll by… I’m thankful for the years so far with my husband and look forward to hopefully many more :).
It’s amazing how different life is now than it was even 10 years ago in terms of what is harder to get done, isn’t it? But it’s all part of the process, I’m learning. That’s so neat that your sons were able to meet the same person that they’d had their picture taken with in 1994! I love that!
Enjoy your meal today and I could do with some help with the weeds too. The more you pull, the more they appear. That is so cool your sons got to go to the USA game and get a photo!
I love the World Cup pics! How fun to get a new one to match the old! The game was disappointing, but it has been a great event overall. We’re rooting for England now that the US is out. Although I do love Messi and won’t be disappointed if they win.

I love seeing your sons hanging out together. My sons do that too, and it always makes my heart sing! How fun, and what great memories they made by going to see the World Cup practically in their own backyard! Their smiles say it all, don’t they?
I love that some nights we’re perfectly happy with just a sandwich, or if we eat out for lunch, we bring home leftovers and make them dinner! Who knew that getting older would make us so resourceful?

It was wonderful your sons were able to go to the World Ciup game and see the USA ! When our daughter and SIl bought ticikets for the LA game it was too early to know who would be playing but Spain did so well and will certainly be a conteder to go to the final. We were all a bit sad about the USA losing their game–I think the red card reversal controversy did not help them– they seemed low on energy the entire game.
Growing old has been an adventure denied many so as much as I feel the aches and pains and so on, I’m still grateful for each and every precious moment!

I had to laugh about surviving on one meal! I remember feeling SO hungry when I went to visit my grandparents because they ate, like, one apple for lunch. Hahaha.
Also- that is SO COOL that they got to go to a World Cup match (although that game was arguably the worst possible game argggg). We are big fans in our household and maybe one day we will be able to attend one!

Sweet photo. I often climb into bed at 9pm. That sounds like a great day. I have one appt next week for a haircut. First time in awhile that I haven’t had 2 or 3 appointments. Well if you don’t make muffins you can certainly eat the blueberries by themselves. I like raspberries too. Sorry about the weeds. I totally agree with your list, however we do not travel like your do which is awesome. That’s funny, we usually only eat one meal a day also. Us too, we seldom, if ever pay for our appointments. We have United Health Care. How nice that your sons went to the game. I don’t know that man but what a great photo they got. Love the flag outfit.
I love your opening photos of timeless love! Such a gift! Oh yes, there are so many surprises that come with age . . . including how quickly it came! I made blueberry scones for my ladies’ Bible study this week. I really do enjoy blueberries . . . scones, pie, muffins, coffee cake, and so on. Glad your sons were able to attend the World Cup game! They are all smiles! Love that they got a reenactment photo thirty-some years later!

How exciting that your sons got to attend a World Cup game AND catch up with that same player! We enjoyed watching quite a few of the World Cup games even though we don’t care at all about soccer. It was fun to see the excitement and how well the USA and Canada teams fared. Enjoyed reading all your answers as I do a little catching up on the Hodgepodge!
