Out Our Doors

Our Iris is getting bigger every year.

This is the first clematis to open some buds.

The Columbines are spreading out all over!

It’s a nice time of year for color out back and out front. The most intense color right now are the deep red/burgundy peonies that bloom first before the white and pink varieties we have. I was able to use the red peonies for simple center pieces at the memorial reception of our friend this past Sunday. We have 6 bushes of the red peonies. I’m happy that they could be enjoyed by others.

Our outdoor furniture is coming out little by little. We will be selling a couple of the larger tables that were just too bulky for our deck. We replaced them with simple foldable tables. We have a group garage sale coming up starting next Thursday and hopefully they’ll sell quickly.

Hope all is well these last days of May in your corner of the world.

  1. Great pictures of your amazing flowers. I love the variety of flowers you have and all of their vibrant colors. I, too, took photographs of some of my flowers this week. My garden isnΒ΄t as robust as yours but it is still beautiful and I enjoy seeing the colors and even seeing and hearing the bees hanging around the flowers :).

    • Thanks for stopping by, Maria. It is nice to see the bees hanging around. I did not plant any of these flowers that are growing on our property. I thank the Lord for the person before me who was so diligent to plant them and now we are the ones enjoying them! Have a lovely weekend.

  2. Wow wow wow! It’s been a while since I saw your garden awake and blooming. That photo of your billion peony buds is pretty spectacular πŸ™‚ Clearly columbines love your climate.

  3. You have a gorgeous garden Ellen. I really like the old windmill and your other decorative features. Those peonies would make great table arrangements and the columbines I would love to plant around here. I wish I lived closer for your garage sale. I’m looking around for a couple of pieces of outdoor furniture for our deck πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend!

    • Thank you, Denise. I owe most of everything that grows here to the 2 owners ago. I’m sure you will be able to find the right pieces for your refurbished deck!

  4. All of your garden’s flowers are beautiful, Ellen! I’m seeing many here with gorgeous iris flowers this year and now I want to pant some in my garden for next year. My lilacs did well this year for the first time until a deer came around and ate half of them…lol

    • Here I thought that lilacs were deer resistant. I try to shoo the deer away when they start nibbling on my dwarf lilac plants! Thanks for coming by…

  5. All of your blooms are beautiful, Ellen. How lovely that you were able to provide fresh flowers at the memorial dinner recently.
