Summertime Waffling Hodgepodge

It’s Wednesday and no time to waffle but time to answer these questions. Thank you to Jo From This Side of the Pond.

1. August 24th is National Waffle Day…what’s something you’ve ‘waffled’ on recently?

Just a little waffling yesterday at Tiles for Less in deciding on which tile to buy for our master shower renovation. We made the decision and that renovation will begin in late September and early October.

I did a lot of waffling on these questions…

2. Do you like waffles? Make your own or ‘leggo my Eggo? Any favorite toppings or add-ins? Waffles or pancakes-which do you prefer?

I enjoy waffles and pancakes. Mostly make our own. We enjoy our waffles and pancakes with Real Maple Syrup and sour cream. Because of the waffle pockets I mix the maple syrup with sour cream in a little dish and then dip my waffle bites into the creamy goodness before I pop the bite into my mouth. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.

3. Do you have any momentos from this summer (or past summers)? What do you do with them?

In my teens and early 20’s I collected charms from different summertime trips. The bracelet makes a fun momento and I’ll wear it on occasion.

At a throwback to the 70’s party in the summer of 2017 several of the gals wore their charm bracelets so we took this photo. Fun times. My bracelet is the one on the left with the jet.

4. One thing you’d like to do before summer ends?

Watch one of our granddaughter’s soccer games in person. This will probably happen on Thursday of this week.

5. Life is too short to___________________________________.

Life is too short to wear tight shoes, tight anything for that matter…

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Speaking of momentos, I bought these mugs in England in 2014. The one on the left is my morning cup of coffee mug, so it’s a momento I use every day. I bought that mug at TKMax in Windsor. I bought the Wales mug at Heathrow airport.

I’m behind a day since we spent the whole day in Spokane yesterday leaving the house at 6:30am and getting home at 5:00 PM. A long day away from home. Eye appointment, tile shopping, breakfast, banking, shopping, refreshments, shopping, eye appointment, home again.

I get tired of filling out those 2 sided questionnaires every time you step into a medical office of any kind. This time for the fill in the blank prompt that said ~Race~ I answered ~ Human~.

Have a great day everyone!

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. Oh charm bracelets! I did not have one myself but always liked seeing the various charms that could be added for special occasions.

  2. Hi,
    I have a charm bracelet too. 🙂
I like how you answered #5.
And how you answered ‘race’ …. well done. 🙂

  3. I’ve never eaten sour cream on a waffle . . .I’m going to think about that flavor!! I love charm bracelets. I sort of wish they would come back in style!! I love your answer to race – human!

  4. Waffles are well liked in my house.
    Human – good answer. 🙂
I had one of those charm bracelets too. I had mine way before the 70’s though and didn’t collect charms from vacations but special times in my life.

  5. Sounds like you are quite busy, Ellen. I really like the photo of all the charm bracelets. My charm bracelet is now a necklace! I feel for you about those forms in the doctor’s offices. Even more than that are the portals every office requires you to set up!

  6. What a crazy day you had. Human was a great answer. Thanks for that. It will become my answer on the next race question. Not that it’s any of their business.

Maple syrup and sour cream for waffles. Sounds different but also as if it could be delicious. I will have to give that a try next time we make waffles.

My teen granddaughters have charm bracelets now and enjoy adding to them. They have some interesting and unusual charms.

  7. Those waffle bites sound amazing! And I never did the charm bracelets but I remember those even in the 80s and 90s when I was in school.

I like your answer for the race question. 🙂 I know that they ask that for identification purposes but also because some races are more prone for certain medical conditions than others, but I never liked that question either.

  8. I always enjoy seeing you through your responses. I think I may have to try the syrup and sour cream mix. It does sound good. And the charm bracelets!! That photo brought back a happy day! Mine is in that mix as well, but you know that! I’m so glad that was before covid, when you could come across the border! Honestly!

  9. Ellen – I love waffles, especially a pumpkin spice recipe I have. But we rarely make waffles in the summer … something to look forward to as Autumn arrives. I know you are looking forward to your trip to the UK – we just booked our flights for late October!

  10. Glad you found a tile. We could certainly use a renovation. I like real maple syrup too but I’ve never tried them with sour cream. I absolutely love those bracelets. Hope you got to the soccer game. Love the mugs. I hate the forms. It’s crazy when we are in a medical group they should all have my information available to them.
