Blazing the Trails

I’ve enjoyed a couple days of snowshoeing in our back acreage. On the first day it was overcast and snowing lightly.

Tuesday the 4th of January.

After I blazed some good trails the turkeys flew in and appreciated my path.

On the next day (Wednesday Jan 5th) the sun was out and I worked on compacting the trails.

A rear view of our country bungalow.

We had 5-6 more inches of snow since I made these trails. After shoveling the front walk on Thursday I did a little more snowshoeing to make a path to our variegated willow to throw out some bird seed since with the snow cover the birds have a harder time finding food.

Joseph is now completely buried along with Mary and the Manger.

Time to shovel off the deck again. This will be a record year of snow accumulation for us here.

  1. Hello,
You have made some great trails while snowshoeing, I am sure that is a good workout. We had a few inches of snow overnight. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend!

  2. Wow, your snowfall is something, Ellen. I’m impressed with your snowshoe trails–great exercise! We’ve had snow as well and a little fell overnight. Those turkeys are so funny! Treat yourself to a warm drink after being outside.

    • Lisa, we were born and raised and married and had our 3 children in southern California. We moved to the Seattle area in 1988 and lived there for 30 years. We now live in the northeastern corner of Washington state close to the Idaho panhandle and we are guaranteed some snow most years sometimes as early as October. We’ve lived here for 3 years now. When we lived in Seattle we had some snow storms and that was a lot scarier than here since there are so many hills and steep roads to navigate there! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Happy day to you!

  3. You have enough land around your property to walk your own trails. It’s amusing to see the birds have taken advantage of your cleared paths in the thick snow.

  4. Beautiful snowy pictures.
That will give you a good workout.
Funny to see the turkeys using the path you made!
    We finally got some snow!!

  5. So much snow! Getting out there on your snowshoes is good exercise and good fun. I can’t believe the amount of snow we’ve had already this season.
