Courage and Strength

Swimming lessons started this week and Addy has graduated up from the pollywogs which involves a parent to the next level. She’s getting braver everyday and is letting go of the wall. JJ is in daddy’s arms the whole time so that makes things easier.

Here the grands are doing their best impersonations of what strength and being brave looks like to encourage their Uncle Joshie with a tough task. Love all these expressions and the two different boots on JJ’s feet.

Do you need encouragement?

Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

  1. Hi Ellen,

Those grands of yours sure are cutie pies!! Such a sweet post. Learning to swim is certainly an exercise in courage and faith. I remember those days well. Thank you for sharing the Bible verse; in these crazy times, I need encouragement often.

Thanks so much for your visit to my blog, Ellen; your kind comments are always appreciated! Have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  2. I often wonder, why am I afraid! I serve the God of the universe and He loves me and as your verse says, He never leaves us!

  3. Adorable photos.
Oh the dreaded swimming lessons – I hated them. I ended up learning how to swim all on my own when I was about 8 and LOVED swimming then!!

  4. Such a wonderful verse to meditate on in this world where our media makes everything sound so bleak. Your grandchildren are sure cute. No public swimming lessons at our community pool so far this year. Hopefully, that will change soon.

  5. Ellen – occasionally, when I read the headlines, I get discouraged, so the verse is very helpful! And so are the pictures of the kids. Who can lose hope when looking at those bright little faces? And yes, I laughed out loud at JJ’s two different boots, even before you mentioned it! Thanks for casting a little light into the darkness, my friend!

  6. Aren’t those brave little ones impressive? Yay for making progress in swimming lessons!

Rejoicing with you on another successful cataract surgery! I’m sure it was worth the inconvenience and recovery to have such improved vision.

I am amazed at the deer lying in your yard, even as your husband is doing tasks nearby! The deer there must be pretty tame!

(I know those comments are disjointed . . . I am trying to do a bit of catch-up after my time away!)
