I Know Whom I Have Believed
I know not why God’s wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.
Refrain
But I know whom I have believèd,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I’ve committed
Unto Him against that day.
I know not how this saving faith
To me He did impart,
Nor how believing in His Word
Wrought peace within my heart.
Refrain
I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing us of sin,
Revealing Jesus through the Word,
Creating faith in Him.
Refrain
I know not what of good or ill
May be reserved for me,
Of weary ways or golden days,
Before His face I see.
Refrain
I know not when my Lord may come,
At night or noonday fair,
Nor if I walk the vale with Him,
Or meet Him in the air.
Refrain
Words: Daniel W. Whittle, 1883.
I’m adding the Russian lyrics, also.
Ничто меня с Христом не разлучит;
…Ellen, I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday.
I started reading the words and the melody filled my mind. A beautiful old hymn. Thank you for sharing. ~ FlowerLady
Thank you for these beautiful words that fill my heart with song.
Very beautiful. Have a blessed Sunday!
I always loved singing this “back in the day”. Music has certainly changed and I find at 71 years of age I love the older and the newer Christian music. I listen to K Love Radio everyday and find it wonderful but I also play old Flying W Ranglers music – I love all kinds of Christian Music!
A beautiful standard…
A good old hymn and one we sing often.
really love this. thanks for sharing!
Oh how I’ve missed singing this hymn. Especially alongside those who can sing parts.
There’s nothing like four-part harmony with these great hymns!
