O my heart, take care that thou be in all things on the side of truth, both in small things and great; but specially, on the side of Him by whom grace and truth have come among men! ~ Spurgeon
There may be a potent medicine in the great pharmacy of Scripture, and you may yet continue sick unless you examine and search the Scriptures to discover what “he has said”. ~ Spurgeon
Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. Psalm 119:18 (ESV)
The following thoughts are from listening to Alistair Begg from Truth for Life broadcasts:
God’s eternal plan of redemption is all about Him rather then all about us. It concerns us, it transforms us, but it’s all about God.
When reading and studying the Bible the question we should ask ourselves is, what does this tell me about God?
Hope you all have time on this Thursday to read, search, examine and behold wondrous things!
I love that verse (Psalm 119:18) because any truth that we are able to see is ours because He has opened our eyes!!
Spurgeon is wonderful and I enjoy Begg as well.
…keep thinking thoughtful thoughts!
Thank you, Ellen, for sharing these quotes by Spurgeon. I have not heard Alistair Begg other than the video he does to promote the Spurgeon Study Bible for Lifeway, the publishing arm for the SBC. And that is definitely not preaching. (Have you seen it?) I’ll have to give him a listen. Thank you for sharing the quotes from him.
These are really good. Too often I wake up in the morning and just read my Bible. Lately I’ve started praying before I begin, asking the Lord to reveal Himself through His written word. Have a blessed day!
I love those quotes. Begg and Spurgeon both have so much wisdom to share.
I have to tell you that I would happily borrow your Cinderella to come down and clean my kitchen! She’s adorable!
