Mosaic Monday ~ Snowshoeing

We bought snowshoes at Costco last week and I’ve been walking around our property getting used to them. When you have snowy winters it’s hard to get regular walking routines in. At least that’s the excuse I’m going to use. Ice is also a danger and at my age a fall on ice isn’t recommended. We live in the country and there are no malls to walk in. I’m encouraged with my first three tries in the snowshoes.

Here’s hoping I can use this new form of winter exercise work off all those hibernating calories.

So far, Dear has to help me get them on. Getting them off is easier.

We had a full day yesterday and then in the evening someone was in the kitchen with me…

As ominous as this figure seems to be, she’s just my dear granddaughter, Addy.

Baba’s vest and Gramps’ hat.

Later she switched outfits and became Cinderella. Those photos will come later.

So thankful for the time we had together with Dan, Jamie and Addy on Saturday evening. They came for dinner. Also so thankful for my Dear who patiently puts my snowshoes on for me and tightens them just right.

Linking up with Angie for Mosaic Monday.

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. I love that Addy is already playing dress-up! So cute and something I remember with our grands. You look happy on your snowshoes and healthy. Good for you for trying something new ! Our Colorado DIL who was just here visiting also enjoys snowshoes for the winter exercise,

  2. We have had our share of snow. Our last day with the RV I slipped on black ice and went right down on my bum. My padded rump broke the fall with no damage fortunately. My dad graduated from Redlands University in the 30s. I thought about going there, but in the late 60s it seemed like a very sleepy town. Not so now! – Margy

  3. What a joy for me to see these photos, tonight, That Miss Addy is so precious, you look like a pro in those snowshoes, Ellen. You certainly have got a lot of snow, we might get one snowfall a season, and for that I am thankful, as I age, falling seems to be more of a concern ~wink~
Thank you for visiting and for your friendship.

  4. Ellen – I am just laughing my head off at those pictures of Addy – just hysterical! What will that young lady do next? I am so glad you are getting out on those snowshoes. My sister is here visiting from Cincinnati, and we took her out snowshoeing the other day. Hubby led the way to break a trail, my sister was next and I followed behind with just regular boots. We all got a work out! It’s amazing how much you still “sink” even after two sets of snow shoes have gone ahead! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday and I hope you enjoy the week ahead!

  5. Hello, the snowshoeing looks like a fun time. I am sure it would take me a while to learn how to move with the snowshoes on. Addy is cute, it is fun for the little one to play dress up. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week!

  6. That looks like a lot of fun learning how to get about in deep snow which I guess is an essential activity in the Winter months where you live in the countryside. Playtime with Miss Addy is precious. I love that stage when the little ones start to play at dressing up.

  7. Seeing the pictures of the amount of snow you have I can understand your need for snowshoes! Our son and his family in Maine keep theirs handy as well. The pictures of Addy playing dress-up are so precious. That first picture of her is so cute and when the ones at the end show up it made it chuckle. She’s a cutie!

  8. I tried to comment over at your Mennonite Girls Can Cook blog and it said I had to be a team member. I follow that blog. Not sure what a team member is!

Thanks for your comment on my Passover post. I replied over there. You reminded me of something!

  9. I love that you are snow shoeing!! Such a great way to enjoy the snow and your new home. We have just come through a very windy blizzard over here, complete with 14 hours of power outage. It’s good to be reminded that snow can be fun too. Addy is so cute and you have captured her antics with great pictures.

  10. Smiling at your vest and hat walking … and all the fun you’re having! I love that idea of the snow shoes for exercise. I’m wondering if it’s not too cold there or if you work up some heat pretty quick. You should see how I dress up for walking these days. The wind is icy.
