Mosaic Monday

Who knew a helium balloon could bring so much delight. On Boxing day, in the evening, we stopped at our local Safeway market and after we rang out at the check stand the checker asked us if we could use this balloon. We said sure and took it home with us for free. When Addy came over with her parents last Thursday for dinner she had a delightful time with this free gift.

It’s been fun watching the birds hop and flit about in the snow. The really good hoppers are the quail.

We took a walk about the back acres to check out all the animal trails in the snow. We think we might have had a feral cat (it was looking at us one night through our family room slider), deer, mice and other critters. It might be time to get that critter night camera!

Today was a glorious sun filled day. We joined our kids at church and then had lunch with them. On our way home from their place we took this shot from their driveway. The best of views!

  1. Ellen – Happy New Year, my friend! Your comments about Abby and the balloon remind me of the recent Christopher Robin movie and the joy that Pooh experienced from his red balloon … it is the simple things! I join Tom in admiring the new style to your mosaics – very cool. And thanks for the view – it warms my heart to see that these panoramas still exist in our country. I am grateful that you joined Mosaic Monday this week – all my best for 2019!

  2. Thank you I love to see the tracks in snow

  3. That balloon looks like a wonderful enjoyment! We also see a lot of animal tracks here when it snows and I’m always meaning to buy a book about tracks and scat in order to identify them both.

  4. Isn’t it amazing how little it takes to entertain a child of Addy’s age? So sweet. And I am glad that you get to watch the quail! I love them and where we lived before moving here 20 years ago we had a couple who would come to share our property with their little family. I always looked forward to watching them.

  5. How nice to be given the balloon. Addy must have loved it. The snow views are very pretty. The tracks in the snow were interesting. They are predicting snow for our area this weekend. Hopefully it will change as we have company coming.

  6. Your new home is in such a beautiful place …. it would be a great place to live even without that fabulous bonus — that darling granddaughter (and her parents of course too!)….. the balloon was perfect for her!!
