This empty space in our basement was not very usable and Dear had a plan to transform it from ugly to nice.
Dear set his plan into motion. After taking measurements he built the sides and back and shelves to fit.
After seeing if the pieces would actually fit he primed the wood and then painted the side and back pieces and stained the shelves. He set the pieces in using his fancy nail gun.
When the stain was totally dry he slid them in and they fit perfectly and firmly.
His work was level but the existing walls weren’t so he added trim to cover up the crooked space.
He primed the trim and installed it. He then gave the trim it’s final coat of paint.
All finished and ready to load up the shelves.
These shelves are sturdy and can hold lots of weight. Now I have a very useful, usable space.
U is for Usable, Useful space. From Ugly to Nice.
Linking up to ABC Wednesday started by Mrs. Nesbitt and continued by Roger and the ABC Team!
Maybe in the future I’ll show you what I decided to fill these shelves with.
I’ll leave you with one of my first Christmas items that is now on the wall and let you find the 2 words starting with U!
Twenty Six more days and if you read this tomorrow it is Twenty Five days till Christmas!!
The shelves are so nice it makes a person only want to put pretty things on them!
Oooo – those shelves are very nice! Nice finishes too. Wonder what will be placed on them. Your Dear is a very handy guy!
What a talented chap your husband is he made a really good job of your empty space,
All we need now is to see it fully utilised.
Best wishes,
Di,

Wow! Aren’t you a lucky woman to have a husband like this! I have a fellow I hire to do things for me now I’m without a man. He’s called “the Handy Husband” and is very nice. In my youth my Dad would never let my sisters or me do anything that was a “man’s job” and as such we grew up needing to depend on men for the simplest things. If only…too late for me now as arthritis has set in and even if I knew how to do things, I couldn’t. *sigh* lol

Wonderful to see space transformed like that…
Your husband is very talented, Ellen! He really transformed that empty space into a nice storage space. Christmas season is here–the most wonderful ( and busy) time of the year!
How nice…the new shelves! Oh…and the Christmas wall decor too! (‘unto us’)
Fabulous!! The changes will definitely make it a usable space. I can think of a dozen or more things to do with such a space. What a handy husband you have there!
Marvellous, what a vgreat idea!
Your new shelves are awesome. To be handy as your dear.
How clever and handy of your hubby! Hmmm, maybe I can find some usable spaces hiding in my basement.
