While we were in Amish Country in Indiana the Mennonite Girls and our husbands took a driving tour along the Heritage Trail. One of our stops was at the Bonneyville Mill County Park Bristol, Indiana. The Dahlia garden was still blooming beautifully.
We traveled these roads on a Sunday September 25th when many stores and restaurants are closed in this part of our world. The guide says “find surprises at every turn”. We started the trail in Shipshewana and traveled through Goshen, Nappanee, Wakarusa, Elkhart, Bristol and Middlebury before we returned to Shipshewana.
The barn, barn quilt, and windmill were a bonus to see on this stop on our tour.
Sunday the 25th of September was our first full day of fun with most of the girls and our husbands. The Manitoba Girls and their husbands arrived in the late afternoon and then all 10 of us girls enjoyed “Faspa” together before heading to our rooms to rest up for the next several days filled with shows, meals, book signings, and travel. It will take several posts to share many of our experiences. Dear and I arrived home last night after the four hour drive to the Detroit Airport and a four and a half hour flight to Seattle. It was good to put our heads on our own pillows last night. We now have to set our inner clocks to Pacific time!
I’m linking up with Maggie at Normandy Life for Mosaic Monday and
with Tom the Backroads Traveller for The Barn Collective.

Absolutely amazing photos. The flowers are gorgeous.
Wonderful to have special times with special friends on trips but so comforting to come home to your own bed.
Your mention of “faspa” reminded me of my first visit to a friend’s Mennonite family home with her parents, many siblings and their families . Fascinated by the food laden tables.
Looks and sounds like an amazing trip, love your Dahlia Mosaic. Happy MM.
Beautiful!
Have a great week!
WOW WEE!!! What wonderful sights. Everything is gorgeous, look like you have a great time. Thanks Ellen for sharing all this beauty…I hope that there might be a bit more.
So thrilled that you were able to savour the delights and surprises at every turn and there were lots! Beautiful scenes barns and buggies!
Hello, the dahlia garden is beautiful. Lovely blooms. The quilt barn is awesome. wonderful visit to Amish country. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
I have a feeling that your car stopped many more times than our car did! It was funny how many blurry pictures I have from taking them out of the side window. LOL. Beautiful Ellen.
Pretty summer photos.
Amish areas are always so peaceful and beautiful….a step back into time! Glad you are back home safe and sound. Please order up some good Seattle weather for us for our upcoming trip!
The Dahlias are beautiful and your sightseeing route brings back wonderful memories of our visit to that incredibly interesting area! And you are an amazing woman to put up this perfect post on the first day back home… Especially with that time change, which always takes me a few days.
What a wonderful trip! I know you enjoyed it! Love your photos this week too! Hugs, Diane
Beautiful pictures! Love the barn quilt and the dalias. My grandpa’s sister (Great Aunt Bena) settled in the Middlebury area and had a large family there. I have many distant cousins in that area but have never really explored or visited there. You are inspiring me to do so someday! Keep the stories coming ….
I’m smiling…as I remember. Such a good time…we had!
What a fabulous trip this must have been for all of you…even better that you were able to share it with one another!
This is certainly a pretty post…from the colorful dahlias to that wonderful barn quilt!
So beautiful~! I’d love to see it in person. Thanks for sharing your photo journal.
