Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Home, home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Where the air is so pure, and the zephyrs so free,
The breezes so balmy and light,
That I would not exchange my home on the range,
For all of the cities so bright.
Then I would not exchange my home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Home, home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
The animal that most Americans call a buffalo is actually a bison. Buffaloes are found in Africa and South Asia, while bison roam in North and South America. Bison are also referred to as American Buffalo.
All of these photos were taken in Yellowstone National Park the end of June. If you’ve never been it would be a great National Park to put on your list.
I’ll be linking up to ABC Wednesday for the letter B. Thank you Mrs. Nesbitt, Roger and team for this long running meme.
Dear and I are roaming about British Columbia today so I’ll be coming around later tonight or tomorrow to see more letter B posts.
Some of those bison are looking a little scruffy. =D You really did have a nice time at Yellowstone and now I am wondering if you are meeting up with the rest of the MGCC crowd.
Vee, your wonderings are right on track!
Lovely photos on a cloudless blue day. Such fascinating creatures with a great history. B x

It must have been amazing to see these creatures who used to roam wild! I am thankful that the National Park Service preserves our lands and our history.
I enjoyed seeing those bison in Yellowstone and even more so in Custer State park in SD where there seemed to be a million of them! I look out at the plains here and try to imagine when the bison roamed free.
PS: Congrats on the new MGCC cookbook launch! I know it will be a success!
Great pics of hefty bison and beautiful verse too..
Hi Ellen! Wow! your trip to Yellowstone was awesome! i’ve been catching up on your posts and this park is definitely on my bucket list! The bison are the first creature I think of in association with the Wild West! Fantastic photos!
Have a great week!
Definitely want to go there.
We have hillocks nearby our town named after Bison hills.
Wonderful!!
